Thought ya'll might enjoy seeing this. Reported 500HP in a early Bronco built for mudding.

What cam? What head mods? Those holley double pumpers? Why use cheap paper filters on such a hopped up build? Can you give us all the details? I really, really wanna know! LOL

I would imagine the cheap filters are because it's a mudding truck, probably used for one run and replaced. I'll see if I can find any more about it. A member on another forum sent the pics to me.

I was just wondering what kind of carbs those are. They look like holleys but I can't tell what series they are.

Holy smokes, that's a LOT of gas dumping into that 300!
I would like to know more myself. Just seems like WAY to much fuel.

(CID/2) x (MAX RPM/1728) = CFM ...wow.

Murph.

EDIT: How about the PCV system, what's up?

Vacuum secondaries not double pumpers, I would really like to hear some specifics on the build. 500hp out of a naturally aspirated 300 is a tall order, what do they wrap it up too? I read about other 500hp sixes but they all used cleveland heads.

Awesome. I don't believe it's putting out 500 horse though. That's a load of croc. If that motor really is putting out 500 horse it's going to be too high in the RPM band to make use of it. I would think you would almost have to destroke a 300 to pull 500 horses out of it. How much torque are they claiming to make with this thing? We require more details. For you to just post a picture and say "Hey, check it out. Cool huh?" is just silly. If I seem aggitated, it's because the "kids" woke me up at 430. It's 510 now. Somebody is close to death.

1) I said "reported to be" 500hp
2) Mud racers do run in the high rpm power band
3) I posted that I would try to find more info
4) Don't worry, won't post silly pic's again

Judging by the Clifford intake, and OE head, I'm guessing the bronco owner went with something like the Clifford build up, and that would put him at about 325 hp. A .050 bore and forged 390 pistons would bump the hp a bit, but without a turbo set up, 500hp is a bit much.

It's a heck of an engine.

That is sweet to see for two reasons. A) It's awesome to see a dual 4bbl intake on the 300! That's a sweet looking engine. B) I've never seen a 300 in an EB, so that just adds to it.

http://cliffordperformance.net/images/Ford300.jpg

The engine Clifford Performance shows off on their front page is a dual 4bbl 300, so I don't think it's getting too much gas if it's set up right. Some professional port and polishing, and then I know Clifford used to (probably still does) sell kits that allowed the 300 to rev up to 6500 RPMs. In a mud truck, that'd be about right. Looks like whoever owns that thing has the money anyway.

All in all though, 500hp does seem high, but 500tq doesn't.

Keep the pics coming, it's eye candy.

PS: They're also vacuum secondaries, you can see the vacuum secondary housings right there in front on both of them. So no double pumpers.

Oh yeah, I didn't see those. Good eye.

Yeah, 500 tq doesn't sound too high for an engine like that.

1) 300 I6 motors don't HAVE a high RPM power band
2)I wasn't arguing with what you said.
3)I said you just posting a picture like that without even offering any info was silly. And it is.

I might can see 500 TQ, but even then, I doubt it. I know it's not making 500 horse though. Maybe 350.

Edit: I just re-read what you wrote. I have never heard of a 300 revving to 6,000 RPM. I really didn't think it was possible with the long stroke. Even a 302 needs some minor work to see six grand. I'm not arguing with you, you know a lot more about that stuff than I do. I'm just saying it's hard to see six grand out of a straight six with a four inch stroke.

Best hp I've seen for an n/a 300 u-flow head is 365. Best n/a 300 was from a cross-flow head and it was still less than 500hp. Both are from Greg Koesel "Frenchtown Flyer".
