Bill, No hostility there. Just simply and quickly trying to absolve you of any wrong doing.
I was in a hurry to warm up the oil on my 64 and just sent a quick line. Finding info on these sixes can be a bugger. So any info is a boost.
Hey you're a good man.
And that is all I was trying to say. I was just saying the 300 I6 guys don't get real world information. Nobody builds 300's like they do V8's. It annoyed me someone would post pictures of a beefy 300 without even a one liner like "I don't have any info but I'll try and get some"
You can build a 300 to rev, it just costs more money, and is probably more complicated than a V8 just because knobody ever does it. I'd say it's more fun to have a 6 with that kind of power because it will probably still have decent low end torque. Not sure about the 500 HP I think it's a guestimate made by someone who is used to building V8 motors, but it's possible. I bet he's got at least 380 HP.
Man that Clifford motor is sweet, but $5k man thats not a very good HP to $ ratio. I guess it ain't bad for a super powered 6, but I think you can build one close to that for a lot less, and probably build one way better for the same price, but 325 HP and 418 TQ in a 300 six is freaking awesome, thats more power than a 460 or 454 in their EFI days.

I just wanted to add a bit about Jack Clifford as a person, and the engine you see. JC was an aerospace engineer who specialized in racing I6's...against v8's usually. (You guys can go around and 'round with this, but I am only relating what his son-in-law told me). At one street race he bought a gallon of white paint and a brush and painted 'You lose' on the back of his car.
I thought the engine was expensive too, until I sat down to build one. It took months of digging around for information, researching parts, figuring out what push rods to use because I shaved the block .020, and the head the same amount. It was like that every step of the way, with each part. I probably spent 50-60 hours reading and researching for my build. On top of that figure in hours spent hauling around the block to the machine shop, and the head, many many hours spent driving to buy parts, etc., and you get an idea of what you save when you buy the engine out right from Clifford. I enjoyed the process though. But as far as saving money by doing it myself, I don't think I saved all that much.
If I use the head for an example: Clifford wants $1200 for his head with the sbc valves and p&p, with everything done. I did it myself through a machine shop, and it cost me $1000, plus many hours of research and running around. But for people like us, and I refer to the guys here on this forum, most of the fun is in the creation process, the spinning the wrench ourselves, the building, the machining, and the thrill of firing it up afterward.
However, with the Clifford system, you get an assortment of parts which are designed to work together, have been tested and tried to produce. It eliminates the guess work and half the fun of building an engine. With that engine there is no personal touch, no personality of the builder. But it is still bitchin!
What the Clifford engine is missing: Forged pistons. I think for that price you should get top notch pistons.
Bill, didn't mean to come across so defensive, but I did say "reported 500hp". Contacted Crozetcrew last nite and he is checking on the engine spec's. In the meantime, some more eye candy.

That is so friggin' cool. I'm glad you posted these pictures and I thank you for aquiring information for us! Us 4.9 guys are information deprived, especially from real world people. I would LOVE to see a dyno of that thing.
I don't know Bill. I seriously doubt the guy that drives that EB is a wannabe pimp that wears his pants half past his ****
I'm a country boy but I love that song. I actually like a lot of rock (yes, that song is half rock). Who cares what the OP is!? It's still an awesome song to sling mud too!
Can you imagine what that 300 sounds like revving to six grand? I know what mine sounds like at four. I so want to see this thing in action.
Edit: It's a shame that Bronc isn't black. "Ole Black Betty" comes to mind!
Black you say? Here is a little 170 of Chris's heading in. Credit to Crozetcrew for all pic's. His dad builds engines and hoping to get some good tip's for my 200 build for my 66 halfcab.

You shouldn't have much trouble building your 200. If I remember correctly, it was the 200 I6 that Ford put in their Mustangs, right? I would think there would be some aftermarket support for them.
Good looking little Bronc. I'm wanting to see these things in action though. I know there has to be videos out there!
