Boy all this wheeling talk is getting me itching for some back roads. I installed a new fan and temp controller this weekend so the truck is all ready to hit some trails again. I bi wired it so if the t stat/ controller goes out I can still manually control it from the vehicle, good back up I guess.
Dave, have you been to S. Washington St this year yet? I herd its getting pretty interesting down there.
Very easy to do, and you'll love the freed up pony's you'll gain. Only thing is; buy a new fan and make it work. Junk yard fans are pretty sketchy. I just burned through my first one in about 2000 miles or "maybe" 1hr run time. Now this new one I just bought already chirps a bit so I doubt it will last to long. But what do you expect when you pull it out of a almost 20 year old car.
Nope, haven't hit S washington yet, infact its been a year or so sence I've been down there, last time was to pull a buddy out. We broke a wintch cable, than I had to jerk the hell out of it with my Dads old (2001) supercrew to get it out. Time before that, I was stuck in a hole for prob 2 hours.
Man you live in the middle of nowhere and have no job, what are you talking "no time". Hell you made 1000 post this weekend! haha I could have installed a complete engine in the time it would take me to post 1000 times.
Please don't tell me you use a chain to recover stuck rigs. Only time I use a chain is a steady pull, or draggin trees around when I cut fire wood. I use recovery staps, the ones inmy wheeler are 6 inch wide, in the DD, 4 inch wide
lol. i know you are. ok, i have time, but not the money or resources to do it. if i had a spare hundred bucks layin around, i probably wouldve already done it.
i use the chain to pull people stuck in snow, and logs and whatever. and my truck has enough torque and weight compared to the people im pullin, ive only rarely had to give some light jerks.

Oh man I know how that goes. Last time I was down there I ended up getting stuck pretty bad. Took about 3 hours to get it out and it was a miracle at that. Had 3 trucks lined up on dry ground all pulling, two were 3/4 ton turbo diesel's and the other was a 454 4x4 dually. They were about to give up and decided to try just one more time, well thank god it came out. I actually had a tractor lined up to come pull me out. So now I'm a little sketched out going down there. lol
