I know there are pages on this already--but, this is the way I do it, too.

Oh yeah--search for a thread that gives you the international part numbers for the fuel filter. Same filter at a significantly reduced price.

All this talk of filters...

I just spent $114.07 for an air and two fuel filters
$58.60 for 5 gallons of Shell Rotella 15-40W and an oil filter
$44.70 for four gallons of Zerx G-05 coolant
and $12 for four gallons of distilled water
For a grand total of $229.37

What would the dealer have charged me?

Stupid question: I just did my fuel filters, unfortunately I used the diesel I drained from the frame rail to "lube" both o-rings. Should I open both back up and properly lube the o-rings?

Felt pretty dumb when I read the posts on here stating emphatically to use grease or oil, but I am an old fart and actually can't remember what I have done to lube them in the past (this was my 6th fuel filter change), prolly the same lame move of using diesel. I see no leaks from either housing, and everything is running well. And I was doing the oil at the same time anyway...

Thanks for advice or comment.

I don't think you should open up both filters and try to lube with oil or grease--you might ruin the gasket. Of course, others will speak up, too.

If you are not having any problems leave well enough alone. The diesel can cause problems but it is not guaranteed to. just remember in the future.
