new injector startup

I am currently replaceing injectors in my 7.3. i was wanting to know if there is a standard procedure for starting the engine after the install to purge the injectors or do you just crank it until it starts

First before injector install you make sure you suck excess oil out of cylinders.

If you are worred, pull the GPS after you install the injectors, then you pull a fuse or 2 and a relay and you can crank the motor over blowing the rest of the oil out though the GP holes. (be sure to temp secure the valve covers before doing this)

Then, just crank for 10 seconds at a time giving the starter a break to cool off, eventually it will start, and run crappy.

It will start crappy for a while as well due to air in the system.

dont be surprised if it takes you several minutes of cranking before it finally starts. just replaced some on mine yesterday for the 2nd time and each time has taken roughly 2 or 3 minutes of crank time before actually starting

I always install the injectors, leave them unplugged. Remove the glow plugs and put the valve covers back in place, put a bolt in the top and bottom of them. Then bump the starter over to make sure it isn't hydrolocked. Then crank on it for a few seconds to get all the fluid out of the cylinder. Then put your glow plugs back in, hook up all the connectors, install vc's and start cranking...

Yep, I'm with James. The two times I've had my injectors out I put the injectors back in, remove the glowplugs, put the valve cover back on with a couple bolts finger tight, bump the starter a couple times, then put everything back together.

Then crank, and crank, and crank... for a long time (just don't overheat the starter, give it a break every 30 seconds or so). And be prepared to keep the idle up for a minute or two, and there will probably be a lot of smoke at first.

There is a possibility of oil out the exhaust too.

Make sure to run a good fuel additive and they will.

2cycle oil is cheap and is one of the best.

I'm runing that right now.

Get a bit better fuel mileage with it over 2cycle.
but the 2cycle quiets my injectors up a lot more.
