Changing injectors

I had my truck scanned and found out 2 and 3 cylinder injectors are bad I ordered the two injectors and I am going to replace them myself. Any one know of anything I need to watch out for, and I need to find a cylinder layout so I change the corrrect injectors 6.0 prod date 12/02 any help or pointing in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Cylinder layout: Facing the engine from the front towards the back:
Left: 1 3 5 7 (Passenger Side)
Right: 2 4 6 8 (Driver Side)
7 & 8 at the rear of the engine well (fire wall).

Lots of good stuff in the Tech Folder on injectors

Like Mark said do some research before you tear into it. I did all eight of mine last summer. It's not a tough job just takes some time. I think I spent more time getting to the injectors than I did actually changing them. Good luck.

yeah the worst part is trying to get to the injectors, the injectors themselves are of good design, them must have planned them working like crap, and having to be taken out alot...

I wish that they had that kind of foresight with the headbolts.

HP oil rail

Make sure you use plenty of oil on the o rings and on the injector tops when sliding the HP oil rail back on. Also make sure that is nuts on when you slide it back on. You will also need an extended Torqex bit to get the injector bolt out. Using a std leght can do damage.

I am sure you knew this, but I thought I would post it anyway:

It should be noted that injector serve on the 6.0 is different than on the 7.3. No air tools should be used in removal or installation of the injectors to prevent damage to the injector. A T-40 Torx bit with a minimum shaft lenght of 2" is require to ensure proper torque of the injector (24 ft/lbs) and to prevent the drive tool from contacting the injector and damaging it. New o-rings and combustion seals should be used any time an injector is removed. Care should be taken when installing the high oil pressure rail to prevent damage to the upper injector o-rings.

Removing the belt (two man job):

It is very simple and requires no tools. Follow the belt off of the alternator towards the passenger side. Reach under that pulley and feel around. There is a spring loaded lever. Now with your left hand (or better yet have a friend do it), pull the belt toward the passenger side of the truck. With your right hand pull up on the lever and it will lock out the tensioner. Now you can remove the belt or whatever else you need.
