moisture sensor?
can anyone tell me what a moisture sensor is and where it is located on a 2000 ranger?

There is no such thing as a moisture sensor. Maybe you are talking about something else.
What does the sensor do that you are referring to?

I think the diesels have such a thing, but I'm with Rock here... I don't believe our Rangers have them.

some suffisticated climat controll systems have moisture sensor....
No DD, Cummins, Volvo truck, mercedes diesel, Deutz have moisture sensor. They all have boost pressure sensor + IAT. It is enought to limit fuel:air ratio to avoid black smoke (ash) in exhaust.
some trucks, like Volvo FH and Volvo VH have water in fuel sensors and draine water automaticly to prevent injector damage.
Mercedes/freightliner trucks have condencation (but not moisture) sensor in wet air tank, but this is brake system option.

Ouh!... I think these "new" auto-wipers use a type of moisture sensor. Though... I don't think the Ranger has ever seen this option?- Or has it?

no, belive me no. some french cars have rain sensor,but this is optical sensor that looks is your windshield clean ore not?
You can add rain detector yourself.

see i had never heard of a moisture sensor either but thats the code that came up from the check engine light

Rain detectors are really rare options. they switch wipers on
