Im getting the moisture light. drained the trap the day before. drove 200 miles (started with a full tank). out of no where it died, wont start but moisture light is on and its not throwing any codes. drained the trap again, it started but not for long. how do i get the remainder of the moisture out of the system.
Are you sure it is water in the fuel. drain the water trap into a glass jar. If you see two phases, you know you have water. if you don't see water, then the WIF sensor could just be corroded and could just need a good cleaning.
As far as the engine dieing, when did you last change fuel filters (and are you using Motorcraft or racor filters)?
using ford filters. changed them about 7000 miles ago. not sure its water now im suspecting icp or ficm problems. I just bought this truck in May and I think I inherited some problems. However, I did drain moisture trap did not notice anything peculiar. thanks guys.
Clean the trap.....it's had water in it before and one one cleaned it.....pull it and you'll see.....cheap fix! Don't fix something that ain't broke....it gets expensive!
Ok, pretty sure it's not moisture now. Moving on to other solutions to my money pit. icp, ficm, cps. gotta find it sooner or later. maybe find a wrecked 7.3 and swap motors. LOL
