I have a 550 horse mustang, and a big ol' lumbering beast F250. Which one do I get a speeding ticket in? Got gunned down by a donut munching knievel this morning and he threw the book at me. mudflap ticket, 40 in a 30 (speed trap, limit goes from 40 to 35 to 30 in about 100 yards) and no proof of insurance in the truck (I just bought it, and do have insurance just have not got the paperwork for it yet, He can see this on the record when he calls it in)
Motorcycle cops are useless except for generating revenue, and keeping donut shops occupied.
I'm not exactly sure what this has to do with 73-79 tech discussion. Please post this in the general non-auto forum next time. The reason is, the more stuff like this shows up on the front page, the more questions get bumped to the second page and people don't get the help they are looking for.
Let him think that. He'll be calling the very same useless cops to come and ''rescue'' him when he gets himself in trouble....haha
I dunno about that, every time i have needed a cop there wasnt one within miles, every time there has been a cop around it has been at a time when i WISHED there wasnt one within miles.
I think this does need to be in a more general chat section though.
I hate to agree with jfaber, but a couple years ago I got pulled over twice in 1 week by motorcycle cops (2 different cops) for no mudflaps. Pretty ridiculous excuse for a traffic stop. The first cop gave me a warning, but the second gave me a $190 ticket. Needless to say, I have mudflaps now (well, they're really just splash guards, but it's stopped me from ever getting pulled over again).
I don't know what their fascination is with mudflaps... Seems like they could be getting the red light runners instead, as we have a really bad problem with that in this town. You can't ever go when your light turns green here, as you must first wait for the person in the intersection and the one behind him coming into it on red to get out of the way first.
I also agree that this should've been in the general chat section, no matter the fact that it relates somewhat to the trucks we drive.
I love it. I broke the law and it's his fault. Slow down. Put on mud flaps. Don't drive until you get an insurance card faxed/emailed/etc. sent to you.

I didn't say I broke the law, or that it was his fault. I don't need to slow down as I do obey the law, I don't want mudflaps, and I am not about to park the truck just because I don't have a piece of paper yet...get real. I have insurance and i'm not worried about beating any of these tickets really including the speeding.
I am frustrated at the fact that motorcycle cops seems to generally suck alot more than other officers. would it have been better if I had been pulled over by a patrol car? I don't know, but I would venture a bet that a patrol officer would most likely have been busy being late to a robbery or been off tasing an old lady or something.
I posted here because I actually think I have a defense for the mudflap ticket in that the trucks ride height is high from the factory, and in arizona the mudflap law does not apply to trucks 3/4 ton or less unless the suspension has been modified to raise the truck.

bottom line being pulled over sucks.
It does suck, and you did break the law, you got a speeding ticket didn't you? I agree, motorcycle cops do nothing but give tickets. Patrol cops look down on these guys same as highway patrol units.
Yes it does suck, but there's things we can do to reduce our chances of getting pulled over. The best way is to not draw attention to yourself via a moving infraction or equipment violations. That's what they look for.

I don't tend to get myself into trouble that requires the police to "rescue" me from. When trouble does find me I find more often than not the police are very little if no help at all.
