First today - I, like you, have found it to be a great debate with all of us sharing viewpoints in a rather civilized manner. The only other thing I might encourage you to do is try to make an anonymous complaint. Some departments accept them, others don't. Since we are an accreditted police agency, we must accept all complaints, anonymous or not and investigate them fully. While it seems unfair to a degree to other officers and me, it is what it is.

I'll second cmpd's sentiment about criticism. I don't mind it either as long as it is constructive rather than destructive. Take care one and all and be careful out there.

I think we have all come to the conclusion that some cops have and are abusing power while most are good people making a living. And for you people that say we should be putting up those cameras to snap pictures of speeders instead of having a patrol car chase them down (which I guess you think are endangering other civilians,,come get real,,how many accidents have occured from a patrol car hitting a civilian while getting a speeder) can cough up the money to pay for them,,o wait then everyone will complain because they aren't in the right "spots". Dang now it looks like we will have to pay extra for some mobile units that are solar powered. O wait, that won't work because then you are basically taking cops off the streets,,they dont just sit there all day shootin radar you know,,they patrol,,they are out there for reasons other than just speeders.

That's a 15 year old girl, stopped simply because she let her friend drive her parents car (she was the passenger) without permission. She did not "resist arrest" (it's only natural to resist confinement) or assault anyone.
Not getting into the discussion about good or bad cops, but I do have to say that this video is absolutely disgusting. I have no idea what I would have done, if someone, cop or not, treated one of my three daughters like that. Not only would this SOB have a criminal case, he would be sporting a nice civil case right along with it.

I had thought I was going to let the rest of this go but I got more to say.

This man Paul Schene shows everything I have been trying to get across. He in no way should be a cop, and the simple fact that he still is proves everything. This man has been a King County deputy for 8 years and has already had 2 "questionable" shootings. (more on that later) It seems the most dangerous thing a civilain can do in King County is hurt this cops feelings, that's all that got this girl beet up, she called him names. And two years ago it got a social worker shoot 11 times in the back, yes 11 times in the back.

This man had so little fear of getting in trouble for what he did to this girl, that he filed for an injury he recieved when he hit his leg on the toilet, watch the video again, he hit's his leg while slamming her against the wall.(he blamed this on her) And he appears he had nothing to fear, and was for the most part right. Her injuries and her story did nothing to get this investigated. But in the investigation of the injury to this officer I guess someone that didn't know to keep it quiet, saw it. Still to this day nobody in the department has denounced this mans actions. To be fair he is facing local misdiminor assault charges, but that won't automaticly get him off the force. And those charges only came about after the video hit the news, imagine all those that don't. Just a couple weeks ago the feds got involved who finally charged him with a felony. But still last nite he slept in his own bed without paying any bail, and he, althow on "leave" is still getting paid.

But why was he still a cop, 2 years ago he shot that social worker 11 times in the back. Well there was an internal "investigation" but nothing came of it even thow there we're lots of witnesses. Aparently this social worker had some real but managed mental issues, and was having a bad day, and driving eratically, not too fast but too slow. Deputy Schene stopped him and he stopped in the middle of I-5. It seams the deputy got him to drive to the side of the road and them attempted to arrest him. But this man having his bad day and wanting to be free (the desire for freedom is only natural) fought to be free, and succeded in getting almost back to his car. That is until deputy schene, with his feelings hurt and all, cause this guy got away from him, emptied his gun into his back. One witness said "he just kept shooting".

Even worse it's not just this one man, watch the video again, did the other officer try and stop him or even report the incident, NO, he helped

Did anyone watching try and stop him, or report the incident, NO, they helped him cover it up.

So I ask you, how are we the public supposed to tell the good cops, from the bad cops, if you guys can't?

How few good cops are there that this guy got away with this until the media got ahold of it?

Of all the officers that must have been there that day, not one of them was a "good" enough cop to stop it, or even report it. How can we expect that most of you are basically good, when none of you were that day?

When 11% of shootings by police, involved an innocent person mistakenly thought to be a criminal, how can we trust you?

This all shows, even in this thread, there are many more "bad apples" then "good apples" sure those bad apples don't think there bad, that's most of the problem. They're a part of this blue wall that deputy schene was so confident would and did protect him. Why are you guys so fast to jump in to protect yourselves from just a few words on a truck forum? It's been trained into you, it's the blue wall, and any threat to it must be delt with.

So again I ask of you, police yourselves, take a long look at your fellow officers, get outraged, these bad apples are hurting all of us, and must be plucked out. The only alterantive is a bigger and bigger divide between you and us. And this divide is only going to get more good people killed on both sides.

You must be the best amoung us, you can't be just like every one else, you must be held to a higher standard, every one else doesn't have the same powers and responsabilities, you do.

We the public, shouldn't need to worry about just getting your attention, only hurting others.

I have done many things and compromised much of myself in order to not "get your attention" because any and all attention is bad. I don't look how I want to look, and I don't drive what I want to drive. Just to be able to avoid police attention, and be able to live my life in peace, this pisses me off.

If a man that has no desire to hurt anyone, has to fear the police how can we have any feeling about you other then hate?

So I stick to my first words in this thread, I hate the police, and if this bothers you, you have two choices. Live with it, and make both our lives more dangerous, or do something about it. All I ask is to be able to trust you, yes as a group, trust that the large majority of you are good and that you will stand up for what is right and just. Trust that the system you represent will in the end, work out.

Until then, I hate cops.

That this is your reply goes towards proving my point. You would rather go to battle against me, then better yourselves and earn my trust. The choice is entirely yours, I'm not going to go invade your life, but you will invade mine. Be carefull and make your choice well, more and more men like me are getting fed up every day.

What? You decided to 'compromise' yourself by obeying the law?

Going through your posts, you've gone way beyond rational to pathological.....You don't like anyone telling you what to do, and you don't want any society-imposed brakes on your behavior. You've developed an irrational fear of any and all authority......and you are trying to come across as 'rational' in explaining this phobic behavior.

You might want to start 'asking' yourself, then....Your issues are internal.

You officers keep attacking me but keep skipping over the issues I raise about your own bahavior. That's all I ask is that you address your own bahavior.

I would like for you to address this;

Or would you just blame the girl?

Or sence one of you brought up the constitution how about this;

This is too much. I should know better. I think I'm becoming "Obsessive Compulsive".

How do you figure it's "MY/Our " behavior? Are you mad? How is what those people did any more my behavior than the nut case that walked into the nursing home and shot and killed all those people...... is your behavior. After all if another citizen commits an atrocity....and you are a citizen...aren't you? Then with your reasoning ....your as culpable as the citizen pulling the trigger.

Why won't you give us an explanation of the citizens behavior? To use your reasoning. Give us a break.

I'd be willing to be I too could post "You tube" after "you tube" of some sick Citizen atrocity and ask you again and again why you refuse to explain their reasoning and why they can't be stopped.

What were trying to tell you is every individual...police officer....citizen....doctor....teacher...is responsible only for their own actions. A school teacher in Alaska can not answer for a school teacher that molests a third grade student in New Mexico. That doesn't mean that all school teachers are child molesters and perverts!

What part of this aren't you able to wrap your brain around?

You guys are fighting a battle against someone whom you've never seen, nor will likely ever see. My guess? He is that kid that always gets picked last, has no prom date, drives his parents vehicle and talks a mean game..... as long as it's behind the computer screen. I've got a youtube for you, opossum (I'm beginning to understand your choice for a screen name):

YouTube - Brad Paisley - Online

Enjoy. It's probably a fairly accurate representation of your life.

Oh, and one last thing, Opossum. Why in the world do you have as a signature the words of a Sheriff's Deputy?

I'm not going to read all 5 pages.

As some of you may know, OPD (Oakland Police Department) lost four officers,
two of which were motorcycle cops; shot as they walked towards their bikes;
after pulling over some POS; who then shot three more.

I'm not a fan of motorcycle cops, but..........................................

WOW! After all of the debating, civil conversation, interesting points raised by both sides, our concession that there are some bad apples out there, and what we thought was a thread that was going to it's rightful place...WOW!

You know, I am as diplomatic as anybody and treat everyone I meet with respect and dignity and generally expect the same in return. Opossum, I find it interesting that you say that we officers keep attacking you. If I recall correctly, you initial statement in this thread was that you hated cops...or something to that effect. I also recall respectfully defending myself because I am not one of the bad apples you have spoken of.

You also asked why we jumped so fast to protect ourselves from just a few words on a truck forum. I'll tell you why. We, much like anyone in their right mind, don't appreciate personal attacks. While you may not have insulted each of us individually, you did so collectively. You have effectively said, in not so many words, that basically all police are bad. You can spew forth whatever you like about the blue wall. If it exists, it is to protect those within it from people that insinuate the things you have.

It's obvious that no matter how we try to reason with you and explain something you obviously don't understand, you remain steadfast in your hatred for police. And, that's alright. We aren't running a popularity contest and aren't currently collecting money for the police ball or to buy doughnuts.

Clay brings up a very good point in his post. If we are guilty of the attrocities you have cited merely by virtue of our profession, how are you not to blame for all of the murders, child molestations, rapes, robberies, vandalisms, crimes against nature, and so forth that your brother, the citizen has committed. Guilt by association is a double edged sword that could just as easily be applied to you as it is to us.

Finally, Stu is correct and this thread is going no where. You can hate police all you want. Personally, I was never raised to hate anyone for any reason and I don't hate you. I just feel that it's unfortunate that you refuse to be openminded and accept the fact that all police are not what have been portrayed here.
