Okay, moved to General Conversation, where even more people can see it, post and get each other really ticked off and I wind up having to dump the whole thread...
Yeah, don't choke on your tickets cause there's more coming... The real problem here is your level of maturity. Don't make it so easy for them. Ignorance is no substatution for the law.

Every time I've gotten a chip in my windshield it was from a semi. Every semi on the road must have mudflaps. However, having mudflaps does not seem to stop them from throwing rocks, why do you think it'll stop me? That argument is not really valid, as all flaps can do is eliminate some of the rocks being thrown high up in the air. They still manage to bounce up into windshields, even when they're thrown from a shorter height (i.e. under the flap).
My mudflap ticket was not worth fighting, though I also have a truck that has stock suspension even if my tires aren't stock. I just decided that because it wasn't points on my license and that I have better things to do than sit in court waiting for my turn I just paid the stupid ticket. I would have lost more money in hourly wages by sitting there than the ticket cost me.
Here in MT we have goofy mudflap laws. They state that if the lowest point of the rear bumper or fender is above 24" you must have mudflaps. No mention of what size or how much they have to cover, just that they have to be there. However, I see tons of stock SuperDutys running around that I'll guarantee are breaking the letter of the law and not getting pulled over.
Mud flap laws are stupid. I got pulled over once for not having flaps, and I don't even have duals, he said "if you have clearance lights, you must have mudflaps", needless to say, I said prove it, and he never came back.
I've been pulled over once for having a "dirty" license plate. I live down a dirt road and it had been raining, so of course its gonna be dirty.
I've been pulled over for unsecured load, because I don't have a tailgate. I've never lost anything out of my bed because of no tailgate.
I've been pulled over countless times for license plate light, which is cool, but a real Ahole (same cop for the dirty license plate) told me "Son you know you are supposed to walk around your vehicle every time you operate it to make sure everything is working", my response is "don't give me that bullshhh, don't tell me you walk around your truck everytime you get in, and what if it was working when I left, but burned out while I was driving, am I supposed to get my girlfriend to ride on my bumper and watch and make sure my light stays working?"
I have a 550 horse mustang, and a big ol' lumbering beast F250. Which one do I get a speeding ticket in? Got gunned down by a donut munching knievel this morning and he threw the book at me. mudflap ticket, 40 in a 30 (speed trap, limit goes from 40 to 35 to 30 in about 100 yards) and no proof of insurance in the truck (I just bought it, and do have insurance just have not got the paperwork for it yet, He can see this on the record when he calls it in)
Motorcycle cops are useless except for generating revenue, and keeping donut shops occupied.
Hey "J" give me a call....I'll save you a donut...glaze..or sprinkles?

I just finished drivers ed and the instructor specifically said "You don't have to walk around the car and check everything before you get in, but just take a quick look for any puddles under the car or anything else odd."
I don't know if that was the common sense rule or the law, but inspecting the vehicle every time before you get in is idiotic. Even semis don't have to do that. Inspect it 1x a day and you're good. Not "every time you operate it"
Yeah Pete, there are 3 real ****** of cops around here, they just don't want to deal with rednecks, but I also understand there are tons of reallly good cops and we need them.
I'm very torn about the difference in opinion I have read on this thread. I agree that the police tend to spend quite a bit of time on the side of the road, waiting to catch someone doing something wrong. BUT, I also have been pulled over in those situations and not "copped" (pardon the pun) an attitude with them and given a warning. This has happened at least the last 10 times I've been pulled over - from speeding to running a red light. I have even been pulled over by a motorcycle cop while ON my own motorcycle and not gotten a ticket because I didn't argue about what I did wrong.....I even told him what I knew I did that wasn't legal. Like it or not, we have laws, and we have laws for a reason, and.....the law has the final say. So I guess what I'm saying is that I note some attitude with those who are negative and that could be a big part of your problem.
I also agree whole heartedly that this doesn't belong here in this section. I think that has been made quite clear already.
Good luck fighting the system. There comes a time when maybe you just need to roll with it. Might be a benefit you didn't realize before. The police do respond to you when you call them. Try it - it just might work!

Actually, it does belong in this section, that's why I moved it here to General Conversation. The comments about it not being in the correct forum were made before I moved it...
