Thumbs up

Well, I haven't touched my Script bed yet, except to fully disassemble it. And let me tell you, that was a job in itself.

What version of AutoCAD was this saved in? I can't open it with 2000 can you send it to me in 2000 version... Do you have a 6-1/2' version too?

Hi Moe,

Hey you might want to start a new thread to introduce yourself to everyone. But until then, welcome to FTE.

Also, this is kind of an old thread. If Bob doesn't respond, then I'll try to get him to send you an e-mail.

WOW, BobJ awesome detail. I don't know how I missed this before! maybe I didn't figure I would end up with a script bed?? anyway.
I'm sure you have spent an incredible amount of time just to measure everything not to mention drawing it all up and the detail is great. just saved your drawing and will be very useful.

I started last week to draw up some basic dimensions of my 12' Script bed but nothing to this detail, mostly just to make sure I can swap the 12' script bed onto the f-6 chassis with the dump bed setup thats currently on it.
Current dump bed has 5" tall c- channel that the top rails are attached too and its about 7/8" too wide for the script bed to fit onto top of it, (the distance between the angle gussets.)

I am looking at replacing the 2x7 wood beams with 2x6" steel tubing (they don't make 2X7's in steel) then I will will just weld or bolt the bed to the 2x6 steel using the original gussets. just have to modify the existing hydraulic ram attach points and the hinge point slightly (i think) on the truck. can't wait to get this thing swapped.

anyway, thanks for posting this drawing and sharing with us...

(Frosty Root Beers of course )

Josh

I am using InteliCAD and saved it in, I think 2004. I'll send you a version in 2000. I don't have a 6-1/2' version, I only have a 9 foot bed on my F-4, but had a 8 foot one for a short period of time to get some dimension off of. I hope to have the drawings updated some time this winter if I get a chance. Click on my signature to get my direct email address. You'll have to go to my web site to get it. Send my an email and I'll send back the drawing.

My local hardware store had hardware that was close to the parts on the flatbed, not exact but close enough that no probably could tell. McMaster has a lot of different pieces of hardware, you should be able find most everything there.

Buyers is the company that makes most of the hardware for the sides, they also make stake pockets, but they don't sell direct. I got all my parts from RCPW in Ohio
https://www.rcpw.com/truck-accessori...-hardware.html the only places that were cheaper added a lot more shipping cost.

It's been a few years since anyone has commented on this thread so let me provide an update. Several years ago I used the drawings that Bob created and had a flatbed made for the '48 F4 I've been restoring. Here are some pictures of it fit to the truck and after being powder coated. I don't have the finished bed and wood permanently installed yet, but I'm hoping to by the end of the month.

Beautifully done

That is a fine looking build! Will turn heads when driven.

A blast from the past with "Julie's" posts, let's not even go there ! Tee Hee.

That is going to look good when done. I have given the thought of building a flatbed made of wood to go on my 1949 F1 when it is ready for a bed since I don't have one.
