Any info yet? I have not heard baack from Horkey's yet. Maybe they will get back to me today.
Bob,
My eyes are peeled locally for an older stakebody bed, unfortunately it will be attached to some ratty-*** truck that I would have to buy with it. I just need to find the right one that has the correct bed on it, take the bed off, and roll the truck that it came with down a steep hill.
I personally like the older beds better, the ones on the Model AA trucks. As far as I can tell they're the same as the ones on the '48 and up trucks but the back beam has "Ford Truck" stamped in it. I just like it it better for some reason.
I'm not sure when they changed that either but I've seen them on Model AAs and the single "Ford" on '48s and up. I don't remember is I've seen the "Ford Truck" on '47 down.
I think it's going to go cheap for two reasons; I think with the current economic situation we're in has made the old truck market soft plus this auction is for industrial heavy equipment. I have found if an item is in an auction that doesn't fit the bill it usually goes cheap because the right crowd isn't there. I buy electrical equipment and supplies at auctions but I rarely go to an electrical auction because every electrician will be there and bid the heck out of all of the electrical stuff. I go to general contractor type auctions that have a lot of heavy equipment, big machinery. They usually have some electric stuff but no one bids on it because they come for the other stuff. I've gotten a lot of nearly new electrical related items for ¼ the price of new while the price of the other items go through the roof. I have the same feeling about this truck, the auctioneer hasn't mentioned it in any of his advertisement. He just had a small picture of it in his mailer. He listed all of the big heavy equipment but didn't mention the AA. Also he didn't list it in his newspaper ad. I have a feeling there's only going to light interest in it. All of the bidders are going for the heavy equipment. I'm not saying it's going to go for $100, but it's not going to get the bids it would if it was in an primarily old vehicle auction.
Sure do! The wood is all rotted but the metal is in almost perfect condition. The two back bumpers are shot but I was able to salvage two decent ones from another flatbed I had.
