exhaust advice Please

First time posting from me, I was wondering if I could get some feedback from you guys on exhaust. I am considering diamond eye 4” with one piece 3”down pipe. Also looking at the TYMAR 4” kit with 2 piece down pipe. I know TYMAR goes to 4” three feet sooner than diamond eye. But I am concerned with how much of a difference this makes? My truck primarily is stock I want to do the TYMAR air filter and flash tune the truck with a superchip tuner, also future plans on installing a 6.0 intercooler. My dilemma is one diamond eye is $280 bucks shipped to my house TYMAR is $400 also, I know you have to cut the firewall seam to fit it in. I was thinking the TYMAR may be extra difficult do to the larger down pipe. Also how much of a difference will that make on my truck as far as power and EGT drop? Just looking for some honest unbiased advice on which system makes the most sense.<o></o>

I don't know about the diamond eye or tymar exhaust, I'm running AFE (made by pinniacle peformace). No matter which exhaust you go with you will need to mod the firewall for the DP to fit. Mine goes from 3-3.5 right below the firewall seam then 3.5-4" at the bottom of the DP. I didn't have any gauges or other mods when I swapped the exhaust but could tell a difference.
IMHO do a 6637 mod rather than wasting money on the tymar intake. It looks good but is more $$
Same with the chip situation, I wouldn't waste money on a tuner. Go with a good chip like TW or DP that is custom tuned for your mods. Just get gauges before having too much fun

If you do go with Tymar, the down pipe at the firewall seam is the same diameter as any other 3" pipe on the market. And good luck installing a one piece downpipe like diamond eye's, you would at least have to drop the tranny and probably pull the motor too. BUT i would not spend 400 dollars on exhaust. I believe tymars 3-4" dp is 128.00. Then you can do what most of us on here do. Get a straight peice of 4" and bring it out in front of the tire with a 90 os 45. I have less than 100 in my exhaust, but I did get a used dp.

And x2 on the 6637. heres a pic, all you need is the filter and a pvc 45* elbow

X2 what the above post said 6637 air filter and a 2 piece down pipe is way easier to install than a 1 piece experience talking here. Good luck will all your mods. Welcome to FTE.

pfffffff one peice dp eff that lol took 3 hours to cut out the stock nasty one, no way that drops out, 2 peice is love. 1 ft ofpiping to drop down from the top, then connect the 2nd peice from bottom up and clamp it, and its good. you can hear the turbo a little more too, little more boost

Make sure you get what you want if you go with the Diamond Eye system. I had one installed. They wouldn't ship to my house, had to go to a jobber shop for installation. The two-man shop (both disabled gentlemen) took 5 - 6 hours to do it.

I wanted (and ordered) a stainless steel setup, but got the aluminized exhaust delivered. Didn't realize that until I got home and started to fill out the registration form. The SS exhaust is supposed to be lifetime warantee; the aluminized is 1-year warantee. WTF!

I contacted the supplier and the shop. No resolution from either, so live and learn.

I'm disabled, too, so I was happy to help out other disabled folks with their business. I won't give the name of the shop in Garden City, ID that did the work, but I won't be going back. They wouldn't install the cat delete pipe (that never showed up either) so I have the cat still installed.

IIRC, my system had a two-piece downpipe. I don't have gauges, yet, but there is a definate increase in spool-up time. She whistles nicely, too.

The Diamond Eye system is a nice system. How did you get the system delivered to your house? Where did you order from? When I'm ready to swap out the aluminized exhaust for the SS exhaust I thought I was receiving, I'd like to have it delivered to my home so I can do the install myself this time.

BTW, as you can see in my signature, I run the 6637 air filter and am very happy with that.

I have not yet purchased a system I do want to go with one of the two. I am kind of leaning towards TYMAR. I know its not cheap, but I think in the end piecing a system together probably would not be the best as far as time and money. The diamond eye system I found was on Ebay. The kit sells for $279.99 shipped that is muffler and cat delete $289.99 with muffler. I think they have a one piece down pipe. I could be wrong but I thought they did. I just know most guys are happy witht he TYMAR system. I want to do his intake mainly because his filter cost is half of a 6637. The system may cost more up front but over time it would pay for itself in filters.

Dale is a good guy to deal with, bought my IC and Intake from him. I would honestly just buy the downpipe the straight pipe the exhaust. I did this with mine and have less than 200 in the entire thing.

Does anybody out there know a place that can bend 4" exhaust in the Dayton Ohio area. I would love to find a source for the over the axle pipe. I think I will straight pipe the truck then just buy the down pipe.

Tymar sells a prebent axle hump pipe. Also, you can buy tymars filters from them without buying the intake system, they are just donaldson. I want to say 22 dollars each. Just tryin to save you a little money.

Walker sells a 4 inch tail pipe as well. It for a SD but I hear it can be made to work on the OBS. Napa sells Walker parts.

you probably won't find a shop able to bend 4 inch.

FYI, Tymar sells Diamond Eye kits among other brands. Call Dale and find out exactly what you are going to get first. I bought my kit from him, it came with the 2 piece 3=4" dp and 4" from there back.
