which down pipe
hey all...I know this subject has probly been beat down flat. but I need y'alls opinion on which supplier of down pipes I should use. Banks has a stainless one with a egt bung on her already but its kinda pricy. also anyone ever try one from MOTOBLUE? I know there are alot of makers and sizes 3, 3.5, 4. Diamond eye, tymar, magnaflow. etc. theyre all the same right? any preference? thank you very much

You cant get anything bigger than 3" in to to available space. Larger DownPipes take mods to the firewall.
Tymar makes a good one.
Don't be overly impressed with an EGT probe port in the DP, that's not the best place to put a probe. Pre Turbo is much better,

I hear good things about Tymar, and greatly priced also. they come in a 3"/3.5" and a 3 to 4". all of them are 2 peice and can be put in with easy if you bend the seam on the firewall. you will need a 2by for that.

Shoot him an e-mail. he gives you the products he makes and prices. but the 4" takes some major firewall mods. some guys just beat them in with sluges till it clears and then others cut the firewall and then weld a hump there. and i dont know if hte 4" clears tranny lines?

ive got a 3-4. once it clears the firewall it goes to 4. that is all you need. another vote for tymar from me.
you dont want your egt probe after the turbo. you want it in the manifold preturbo so dont worry about the bung on a downpipe. dales site is tymarperformance.com it doesnt have anything on it except phone number. thats all you need.

third vote tymar, just got my downpipe from him. http://www.tymarperformance.com/ shoot him an E-mail, or call him. He's a great guy to talk to and know's his stuff. Also includes great instructions for DP install, and gutting the EBPV if you so desire.

Make it 5 for Tymar. I put his 3" to 4" in my 97 F350 and only minor massage of firewall, NOT major as suggested above. Ask Dale about ceramic coating it for you also. Not too much more money, and might as well do it right while your doing it.

Mines homemade Biotchs! Lol, it was cheap and fun! 3" two-piece dp for me. Im gonna build another one here soon. Gonna run a 5" lower piece and connect it to the 3" upper section with a 3" to 5" long slope reducer. Gonna have my buddy ceramic coat the headers and y-pipe, as well as the dp. Im excited for sure!

i think its in the 120 range. but if you get a 3-4 you gotta get the rest or make the rest. cause the stock size is 3.5
