Nice of you to join us Dan. I'll fill you in a bit.
Cris and Lisa text each other pics and leave us guys hanging. That's about as far as the bewber pics go. But Cris did post a nice foot pic with black nail polish a few days ago.
That's funny, I don't care who you are! I'd have loved to have seen that.
Yup. I was running the plow truck and Preston was shoveling away from the overhead doors of the shop, etc. so I could scrape everything down nice and clean without worrying about bumping a door.
He'd waddle outside. Shovel for 5 minutes or so. Waddle back inside and stand next to the heater for 5-10 minutes. Then he'd repeat the cycle until he was finished. With the occasional smoke break of course.
Just thought I'd explain why I was plowing instead of him:
1: I've wrecked 0 trucks. He's wrecked 2 since August.
2: I grew up with snow. He's only known it for a few years.
Well since you guys are poking fun at us Yankees I guess that means it's open season on the rednecks too.
Preston (full-time employee of dad's company) is from Georgia. He's been up here 4-6 years now. Not sure of the exact number.
Last winter seeing him out in the snow was the funniest thing I've seen in my life.
For weather that was in the high teens with maybe 10" of snow he was wearing:
2 pair of bibs, 2 sweatshirts, a jacket, a hat, earmuffs, and two pair of gloves. He looked like a penguin waddling around in all that.
Watching him try to figure out how to hook a plow was even funnier.
Ive met a few folks from jersey and new york taht are about as redneck as it gets. Redneck is a whole lot more than a regional thing...or an accent for that matter.

But we are cooler.
Alrighty. Then in that case would you please tell me what the correct term for you southerners would be if it's not Redneck?

Last winter, we had a storm (for down here) that dumped about a foot of snow pretty quick. It was about 2AM and I was working with two partners. There was this older couple from Mississippi in a 2WD F-150 pulling about a 28 foot travel trailer. They were stuck going uphill on a little side road in town. I got out, pulled a shovel out of the back of the Explorer and started trying to get them out. No coat, gloves, hat or anything like that and I was fine. The other guy I work with is from upstate NY and he did the same. The third one we work with took about a half hour putting on everything she could find in her car to stay warm and by the time she had gotten suited up, we had them moving and back out on the road.
Cold doesn't bother me like it does some and I don't know why. Some of the guys at work bundle up like your buddy just to go outside about fifty feet and get in a car after they've left it running for about a half hour to warm up with the heater on high.

Pete,
That's not as funny unless you tell us southern folk how one typically dresses in that kind of weather. I had on long johns, insulated coveralls and a coat when I helped a fellow FTE member install a shift kit in his truck, and we spent half the time standing next to the propane heater in the shed next to the truck since the temps had dropped into the mid 50's that day.
In the weather you're describing, I wouldn't even want to go outside, and if I did, would probably wear more clothes than your friend did. I'll put on a jacket if the temps drop below 75 .
And for the record, the only plow I've ever hooked up has been the kind that goes behind a tractor for running through the dirt. A record snow storm down here is about 3", and if that happens, we all just stay home. I've been to Minnesota in February. All I can say is if I was this guy, I'd move back to Georgia.
