On and Pete, you'll be glad to know that I washed the truck yesterday. Here was the result:
I managed to keep the doors from freezing shut..but that water froze the instant it hit the side of the pickup. Got all the salt deposits off..but now my windows won't roll down.
Yeah...sorta looks like snake skin or something doesn't it?
I should have taken a picture of the wash bay. It looked like the inside of Superman's snow cave. The brush was frozen to the holder on the wall, icicle stalactites hanging from the top. I had my good boots on and I was sliding around like the ice capades.

You know the trick to remembering stalactites and stalagmites?
Old science teacher's quote, "When the Tites come down, the Mites go up".
well, my nap did not go very well. some non english speaking meeda meeda in a tractor trailer hit the light pole we put up 45 minutes before and woke me up.
i looked down the road to see the traffic control wire hanging low in the road. so i went out and blocked the southbound left lane till the electricians got back from lunch to rehang the wire. the truck in front of the electricians going northbound in the left lane took the wires, and 2 light stanchions out. we just got the stanchions back standing, and are now getting ready to start wiring.
howdy all,
i just put a thin film of vasaline on the door weather strip in the doors and the doors won't freeze shut. i had old buddy of mine show me that trick a number of years ago.
he owns a car lot in omaha.
and i like the textured look its becoming. gives charactor.

I agree Jack, I do the samething and have been since joining the Fire/EMS, on squad nights we always got calls when the weather was the worst. Vaseline on the door gaskets and saran wrap across the windshield tucked into the closed front doors, wipers in the up position and turnout gear at the front door.
It all depends on the age and the perky-ness, is that a word?
Perkiness is.

Tom (Monsterbaby) offered the same advice. I don't keep Vaseline in the house, so I took my chances. I had WD-40 on hand in case it started to become a problem though. The texture should be gone by now..which is good because my steps were "textured" too and I almost cracked my head open this morning trying to get in the truck.
