It has the aux function button so, does that mean it has the input in the back that I could wire up something like you guys are talking about?
there are two possible ways to hard wire an aux input to ur truck i have been lookin at them to find out which one is better but the two options are the hardwired fm modulator like mentioned and if you have the sirius satellite radio option in your truck you can buy the connector the bypasses that connection on your stereo. that is of course if you dont use the sirius option, which i dont wanna pay for the service so i may take that route.

why would you hardwire a FM modulator?

the whole point of the FM modulator is that you don't have to wire anything in...just select the broadcast station the modulator is sending on and listen to your tunes

Kind of what I was thinking. Unless you get less static?

What's that button to the right of the 3.5 jack? It has a "P" and says off...

For drilling the hole I would use one of these

Brad point drill bit and take it real slow. Maybe even find another piece of similar plastic to practice on

Ahhhh...I don't have those, but I have the camera mirror. I thought it was a package, (mirror and sensors) but was told it wasn't.

The wireless modulators aren't very good....i bought two different ones for her before i gave up due to static and interference.....her car has no input that i could wire in directly, so the fm modulator that wires in is MUCH more powerful and is crystal clear...

that would chip the plastic much more than a regular HSS bit as soon as the tines hit it.

The tines score the outside of the hole before any material is removed. I know in any material I've used them on they always make a cleaner hole than a regular bit.

As I stated above I would get a piece of similar plastic and test every type of bit available before I drilled the hole in the dash.

But hey opinions are like *********s, everybody's got one

How about something like this?

1/8" Stereo Panel-Mount Phone Jack - RadioShack.com

There are probably better looking ones out there. I would start by Googling "panel mount stereo jack" or something similar.

Easy killer....Yes, the timns are on the outside, so when they contact plastic, with their sharpness, they are going to hit it with a sharp edge, doing XXX RPS. with a beveled drill bit, aka HSS (which will work on plastic) it MIGHT chip the center, but then evenly hollow out the 3.5mm needed for the jack to fit.

Like you said, opinions are like *******s, everyone has one, but most smell like ****.

Your bit is great for wood or aluminum though!!

Hey everyone. I dont know about the newer models. But for my 2001 there is a port on the back of the stereo for a CD Changer imput. There is an Aux module that hooks into that then you can get a Ipod cable that hooks into that module. Then you can fish the Ipod cable anywhere you want so its out of the sight of the bad guys. To access your Ipod you just push your CD button 2 times. That way your not drilling holes and jimmy rigging your nice truck. Also the sound is about 1000 times clearer with the set up than the headphone hookup. And without 5ft of cable hanging around. Hope it helps
