Ok, I have the tugger HD2 kit on the way (It says both tugger and HD2). Can anyone tell me if it will hold a gear longer for me when towing up hills? I always feel like my truck downshifts to fast before it needs to and I hope this wil fix it. It also shifts to late in most gears also. I hope this is the right choice?
I believe the tugger will only change the firmness of your shifts, not the shift points or torque converter lock strategy. For that you'll need to step up from the Diablo and try a DP or TW chip.
Ok, cool. I am going to order my DP chip next week and have it burned for the tugger kit also and will install it after the tugger is done. I looked on DP`s site and in the drop down for what tunes to order it has 2 different kinds. One with codes and one without. which tunes do I order?
The way I understand it, the without codes tune, keeps you from tripping the CEL for the common chip related stuff. If you sent an email to Diane, she could tell you for sure.
I'm not a fan of the "codes" tunes. I'd rather know what the truck is doing. If you get the HPOP CEL, it needs fixed, not hidden with SW. The only one that needs hidden is the overboost code. Do that with something like the ITP Overboost Annihilator. The reason is that if the PCM sees 22-23 psi out of the turbo, it sets the light. Once you hit 25, it defuels the engine (not good).
The Diablo always trips my CEL if I stay into it to long on the upper tunes. It gets old, seems like I just start having fun and Bam CEL hits me. I have a ITP boost anihilator otw and the EBPV terminator coming also so hope that will help. I am really excited about the tugger kit and DP chip combo. The stock trans shifts terribly bad even with the truspeed installed and all. I plan on going with the 60T and 80E wich ones do i code and which not to code?
If you have the OBA, then you're tripping the "ICP Uncontrollable" code or whatever it's called. I'm getting it as well due to the split-shot injectors using up all the oil. Either get a little more oil (check out Bob Riley's site), or go with SS injectors. Losing HP oil pressure sucks, because like you said, just when you need it most, it peters out.
