Judges are soft on sentences because they don't want to make new law or set a precedence in case they are overturned on appeal. Even when the police catch the crooks and they are sentenced, here, if it's not a violent crime, the offender may get a "conditional sentence". In essence, the convicted offended gets grounded to his/her home for a couple of years. Some deterent eh.......

i hear ya.... my parents invested in a start up company a few years back and it failed because the guy running it embezzled about half a million dollars and got away with it, but if i was to steal a pack of gum i would most likely end up in jail! it just doesn't make sense, the worse of a crime the stricter the punishment should be and NO ONE should get off easy!

It's too bad that polititions don't read FTE. The everyday working stiff gets it. Why don't they? When you hear of people talking about vigilanty justice for criminals. That's frutration and desparation talking. Most of the property crimes seem to revolve around drugs in some way. I kind of like China's approach to the drug crime. If an individual gets convicted of being addicted to drugs, they have to go into a manditory training camp style drug treatment program. It's not days or weeks long, it's several months. If a person gets convicted for drug trafficing, it's a death sentence. I don't know if it's is an effective deterent, but it would make me think twice about doing a little dealing for some extra cash.

True!
In the end we are all better people because we drive Ford trucks "that we didn't steal".

The real twist to this little unfortunate event, is that a silver f-350 (not mine) lost control south of Ft Mcmurray. The stolen f-350 was heading north. The vehicle rolled, ejected 2 occupants killing them at the scene. The highway was closed for several hours. Police were pretty sure it was the same guys. Bad Karma or what. Anyway, the adjuster is coming tomorrow, then I will be shipping my truck home to my dealer to go through everything. Looks like a blown rad hose also. They were probably honking on it for sure. Now the fun starts. What an inconvenience. I just want to thank everyone for your supporting comments and thank you again. I did get my toy back, but I think with a little tlc, I can and will make it right again.....
I am happy (WAY HAPPY) you got your truck back! Two thieves dead? Too bad they banged up the truck

OK guys, the original poster got his truck back. If you want to discuss crime or politics, take it to the General discussion forum or the Club.

Thanks!

What makes those who are suggesting killing someone because of a TRUCK any better. The motives could have been far less regal than desperation, but DEATH? Is a truck really that much more important than a life? I guess if I have a kid and he hits your kid I should take him out back and shoot him, must be going down the road to ruin. Get it over with now.....

Amazing.

What they did was wrong, but this thought process has got to change. It's great that you can afford this truck and have a job and the means to do all those great things to it. You've got insurance right? So you can just get another one. Don't take it for granted or you will be the next guy doing desperate things to try and find the means to keep paying for it. Look around and think about why these things might be happening more right now.

Ultimately it was their fault for driving poorly and wrecking the truck and getting killed. We don't live in the old west anymore, they hung people for lots of really bad reasons too. We are a modern society and there are better and smarter ways of handling situations. I believe in the right to own firearms, but it scares me what some of you might do with them. It's not right for a person to take another's property any more or less than it is to think about taking another's life, or unduly justify the loss of life.

We have a system for a reason, to serve justice and to keep the decisions out of the hands of the public at large OR a single person. Else we might be shooting everyone and cutting off hands still. It might not be perfect, but justice is something I'm more than willing to pay for.
Sorry krewat, but I can't leave this one alone, So what you are saying is if we don't have pity for thoses car thieves we might end up stealing ourselves? Some of us make our living with our trucks and have tens of thousands more in parts and equipment on them. If I saw my truck being stolen in a parking lot or something I probably would't shoot them, but if they come to my home and steal my truck and possibly endanger my family your damn right I would shoot them.

I am glad your truck was recovered
I guess most alarm systems aren't an end all for thieves
I am strongly considering the RAVELCO anti-theft system

Glad to hear they found your truck. As for Karma, I'm a firm believer she will throw her wrath upon anyone who crosses her. In this case she may have reacted faster than most cases.
