Gray CPS as a spare

Am I wasting my time hauling the thing around in my glove box? When I took my truck in for the recall, the tech (who was actually a decent one!) noticed my CPS was almost new and just handed me the gray one in a bag and sent me on my way. I'm wondering if I should just scrape up the $65 and buy a black one from Jody and toss the gray one in the trash.

You can keep the gray CPS for the guy on the side of the road that don't know why his truck will not start. Get a black one from Jody for when your truck don't start. I have a gray one on my truck and 2 in the glove box.

Don't worry Costa. With your new avatar, we're all smiles.

Chase. Hang on to the gray one. Jody no longer has, and can no longer get the gray ones. Almost all (if not all) the IH dealers are out of the black ones too. Even the new ones from IH are gray.

No word yet on if the gray IH unit is any better than the new Ford one. Someone will have to buy one and see if any differences can be found.
