ABS and brake light on

Tonight we took the granddaughter to the ice rink and upon starting the truck to return home the ABS and Brake light were both on. The truck doesn't pull and the brakes work fine. Could this be the vss on the rear axle.

had the same problem, but my speedo would not work under 30mph, after 30 worked fine, changed out the vss on the rear axle and fixed it, i am sure some one on here can give you better advise on how to diagnose it.

Check the fluid level in the master cylinder. If it was just the ABS light, I'd lean towards a sensor, but with the brake light lit, there's probably something mechanical wrong. IIRC, there's a pressure switch in the MC that will turn on the brake light if there's less pressure in the front or rear breaks (if one line leaks). Its possible you could still have front brakes (which do about 70% of the braking) but no rears.

I had this problem once after I had changed the rear brakes and was trying to figure out what I had done and all it ended up being was low on break fluid due to me bleeding the brakes although the brakes still worked fine. Filled it up and light went away. Hope yours is that easy.

Thanks guys I was low on fluid, not sure why since I have no leaks.. I would rep you but my security program won't allow it.
