The red brake warning light on the dash, the one that comes on when you leave the e-brake on, comes on after about 1 km . The mech didn't know the cause so he phoned the dealer. They said it "could" be the ABS module (1400$). Has anyone had a similar problem. The ABS light does not come on and there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the brakes. HELP PLEASE!
the last time that happened to me the brake fluid was low. but it could also be a faulty switch at the master cylinder.
also check the switch for the parking brake. see if you can get it to go on and off by playing with the pedal position and or the switch itself. this seems somewhat likely, as if you exceed 3mph with the parking brake on, the dash cluster chimes and displays "parking brake engaged" ... so if it was the switch for the brake, you should get the warning on the display.
not very many systems turn the brake light on. the ABS has it's own warning light, so i wouldn't expect the two to be interconnected. regardless, hey should be able to talk to the ABS system through the ODB port and pull any fault codes related to the ABS.
This was just happening in my wife's 2012 town and country turned out brake fluid was low, we just got in like a month ago and the dealer put new brakes on they must have let the fluid come back up and drip out and not refilled it (hacks). Anyway I would check the fluid and make sure the e-brake is released or push the e-brake then release again. Good luck.
thanks KJ
