Has anyone tried the edelbrock ias performer xt shocks with the extra resevoir? I was looking at putting them on my truck and wanted to hear from anybody who has had any experience in them. Any help is appreciated. Thanks for the input.
Edelbrock is relatively new to the shock industry. If you are going to dump as much cash as those kind of shocks cost i would go with a reputable company. Although i am sure Edelbrock doesnt make their own shocks. You might do some research and find out who manufactured them. You might get a good quality shock from edelbrock that is cheaper because it doesnt say bilstein or fox on the tube.
I put the standard performer IAS ones on my last pickup, an 01 Ram 2500. I noticed absolutely no difference and regarded them as a complete waste of money. Not sure about the remote res models, but I'd be wary based on what I found on the ones I used.
Thanks for the info guys. I am having a hard time trying to find shocks made to fit a 5.5" lift so that is why i mentioned the edelbrocks since they make some for that size lift. I know fabtech has some dirt logic 2.25 shocks for that size? Any experience with those? Any other information on different shocks that would fit this lift size is greatly appreciated.
Go online and get the measurements of the shocks you need by going to the website of the manufacturers that you have already found. Go to your local parts store. They should have a shock manufacturers catalog of the brand they carry. This will list the shocks by dimensions and you should be able to match up the dimensions, or at least get close.
I put them (edelbrock ias) on my '97 4X4 SuperCab and the difference to me was very noticable. Had an '02 s-crew 4X4 - put them on it and again, noticable ride improvement on it. I will without a doubt have them on my '03 pwrstrk when it's time for shocks.
Mine were the original IAS. It was around '99 when I put them on my '97 and around '03 when I put them on my other truck, so, I'm not sure the ones you're looking at were out yet?? I don't know if they'll make as big of a difference on a 250, but, I will find out when I do need shocks (have the stock Rancho's right now).
I have had the IAs's on a few differnt vehicles and have loved them! I have about 40,000 miles on mine now and have no complaints about them, you will find that most guys on here run billsteins, they are also great shocks, I just went with past experience that why I went with the edelbrocks....its more of personal preference dont go on what every one says thats why we are all unique, but if it where me I would get the edelbrocks!!
I put the standard Edelbrock IAS shocks on my 2006 F-250 Crew Cab, Short Box, PSD, with the FX4 package.
The "Rancho" shocks, which are really Ford shocks with a Rancho sticker on them are a complete joke! Three were shot at 40,000 miles.
I really like the Edelbrock Shocks.
The ride is much better, and the control is outstanding. The shocks really firmed up the ride, but are not harsh or rough!
Same here, i put my Edelbrock IAS shocks and they made a big difference. Of course, compared to the worn out at 32,000 mile Rancho FX special shocks, I guess anything would be a improvement. But the biggest thing that helped was replacing the steering damper at the same time. With the new front end setup on 2005-2007?, it made a big difference in the preventing of a minor steering death wobble.
