It's an FE I'd be pissed if it didn't leak(eventually)

This is the reason I bought the good stuff. We'll see how long it lasts.

A few comments:

1) It seems that aftermarket intakes like the Edelbrock, or when the heads have been milled, means you can't use the cork gaskets, they are too thick.

2) If you do use the cork (and maybe even rubber) gaskets, do NOT RTV both sides of it. Use Permatex Hi-Tack or something similar (rubber glue, basically) and tack one side of the cork to the block. This keeps the cork from slipping out (works great on oil pans and valve covers too). Put a coating of Hi-Tack on the cork and on the block and allow it to become tacky then put in place.

3) I've used RTV on FE's and never had a problem. Of course, if I was in a hurry, a little oil/grease on the surface will ALWAYS cause a leak.

Good luck

FE's are like English sports cars. You know you're low on oil when there's no spots in the driveway

Well I didn't have oil leaks, just coolant getting into the motor in the wrong spots. I had no leaks what so ever until now. These are great motors.

Hi-tack is great for placing the intake gaskets onto the cylinder head too.

My dad got me hooked on "Indian Head" gasket shellack for tacking cork gaskets down. Also good for sealing threads too.

Just wait until the rear main starts leaking.

According to the engine shop here, "right stuff" is the best you can get. It seals when no other can, tough, and last forever. We'll see.

I promise if it works, I'll stick with this. I picked up a water pump today and I'll be sealing it with the same stuff. Might as well change that out while I'm half way there anyway. Heck, I should have just pulled the damn heads and did those too, but I'm not that rich...
