replacing 360 intake gasket
replacing 360 intake gasket
my '68 360 is leaking in both the front and rear where the intake seals to the block. I understand this is a pretty common issue. I've never had a Ford engine apart before, and I think I remember reading a post awhile back that to replace the intake gasket I'd have to remove and reinstall all the rockers/pushrods. This morning I was thinking about digging into this today and wanted to ask the question - do I realy need to do that? Can someone enlighten me on what I need to do to just pull the intake, clean it and the surfaces up and reinstall with new gaskets?
Thanks

Yes, you will need to pull the rockers and push rods, the push rods go through the intake. Make sure that the push rods go back in the same place as they come out of. When you put the intake back on, what I do is to will the end seals is put sealer on the bottem of the cork and then set the intake on the engine without bolting it down and let it dry in place. Only after it is dry I bolt it down, that way the cork does not move and later leak.
