$3600 For Shortblock ?
I got my 390/436 block back today and the total came out to $3600 and change. That was for the machine work, stroker cast crank,H-beams and SRP pistons, and labor, without a cam. It`s a good build but seems a little on the high side.Does that seem about right ?
No,I wanted to get a roller but didn`t want to spend any more money right now.Plus I dont know how big of a cam I want to put in it.I know that a regular would work OK, but since I put a roller cam in the small block I`m hooked on the rollers.USA Racing in Houston did the work, they`re one of /if not the best shops around.I got the Cobra Jet heads I found off that old truck I got awhile back that I`m planning on using after I get them to look like yours.Anyway, thanks for the reply,I just wanted to know if I was in the ballpark on the cost.

What would be a good aluminum intake to put on it ? I have the CJ cast iron one now.And I`m going to put the bigger valves in like yours.I just bought a`88 F-350 4x4 w/brand new 460 that the guy didn`t finish putting back together for $1000.Just unloaded it,couldn`t pass it up.

For the money it is hard to beat the Edelbrock rpm manifold. Your manifold is a good manifold, but it is nice to loose all that weight by installing a aluminum manifold. Ford made some very good aluminum manifolds , but it is nice to buy new, and not have to worry about buying a used manifold that might have some issues. Sometimes inexpensive used manifolds can end up costing you a bunch because of problems like previous milling, broken or cracked areas, damaged threads etc. Just depends on your budget.
