My wife gets that way to about stuff,I don't understand why but she does and I leave it alone.

 

I dunno Sheldon. Sometimes thing are funny to a woman and sometimes it's not. One day somethings ok and others it's not. Did she have a bad day and just overreacted? or have you teased her so much that she finaly had enough? I have done both!

Sheldon, the issue to her was not that you were joking...its that you made a pretty negative comment about a physical attribute that she shares.

I'm going to attempt a very bad association, so bare with me.
Say, you had lovehandles, or something..something that you were ok with, maybe a little shy about it. Sandi makes a joke about some dude who has a rock hard body, that he is her 2nd lover. You make a comment about how he is ugly..and she says "well at least he doesn't have HORRIBLE DISGUSTING LOVEHANDLES".

Even though she is joking, its sort of like a stab straight to the heart, isn't it? She was personally offended by what you said because now she thinks you don't like her hair, or that you aren't attracted to her because she has short hair.

You boys need to understand, women overanalyze everything. Every single word that comes out of your mouths gets plotted and graphed, every possible meaning is explored and analyzed. In addition, everything you say and do gets recorded...into the rolodex in her brain..

Women need to feel attractive 100% of the time. Its what makes us tick. If we don't feel attractive for whatever reason, we are running on nothing. Most women get most of their self-esteem from how they feel about their looks.

I have no idea if this makes sense or not. Me personally in that situation? I wouldn't have started a fight, but it probably would have made me feel bad about myself a bit.

Also - I thought of this when I was in the kitchen just now:

women really DO NOT and will never fully comprehend how SIMPLE men are. We assume, time and time again, that there is always meaning behind everything..when truly there isn't. No meaning, no plotting, no planning - just the action itself.

A man walks up to a table and throws a book down and it makes a noise.

A woman is thinking: why did he just throw that book down? Is he mad at me? Did he have a hard day? I wonder if he is stressed at work. Wow I really hope I didn't do anything to upset him.

In reality, all he did was accidentally throw the book down. At that same point in time, he is thinking about catching the highlights of the game he missed, wondering if it will snow tomorrow, and thinking about changing the oil in the truck..that and his ***** itch a bit.

She is still wondering if he is mad at her.

It's a hard thing for a woman to understand because in our brains every word or action has a motive and a meaning.

Thats why men are from Mars, and women are from Venus.

Julie is much more the "guy" in the relationship here. I am always wondering if she had a bad day, mad at me, whatever....I analyze everything I say, thinking, "oh man, I shoudnt have said it that way." lol...More than once she has told me to knock it off and "grow a pair."
