Dude, none of that is your fault...Just some horrible communication...
Sorry about all that.....
I dont know about you guys but I enjoyed the dumb story....LOL.
Thanks Sheldon! Glad someone finds me amusing, since lord knows Julie doesnt anymore... J/K
Glad you got it sorted out, Sheldon! Sounds like a nightmare. I agree with your wife -- they were the ones that had no clue. You got told one thing, then ended up getting told something else in the end. Nothing to feel stupid about IMHO.
Workers comp cleared me to go back to work now, but not heavy hard labour work. So i call up this one fella that was advertising a job hauling cattle. I talk to him a few times and he offers me the job.
So I go into town to get this kenworth that Im gonna be driving and I have to go get it from another employees house. My woman wasnt sure about that, the fact they didnt have a shop, and no place to park their own trucks and whatnot. I shrug it off. He tells me Im gonna be driving to this other city with a reefer and drop it off and get my cattle liner and go. So I go to get the reefer and no go, it wasnt there. So after some screwing around they realize they have the wrong trailer number, and I get hooked up.
I drive to this next city and talk to the people in charge. They hand me a ten page application/papers and whatnot I have to got through.
Huh? I thought I was employed by this other guy... Anyways I fill out all this paperwork, they tell me Im good to go, THEN they tell me Im not gonna be hauling cattle, but Im gonna be doing city deliveries in another city, 8 hours away.
Well now Im starting to wonder what the hell did I get into here. The first guy that hired me was new to this, and turns out he sub contracted under this second company (a reputable company), but didnt tell me any of this.
So the original deal was Im hauling cattle, 8 days on 4 days off, between three prairie provinces, and now I get there and get told (not offered, I get told) that im gonna be doing city deliveries (which I DO NOT want to do! ALOT less pay and i prefer not to drive in the cities if I dont have to).
I call up Sandi and talk to her about this and that I wasnt having good feelings about it and whatnot, but told her whatever if they send me off right away, Ill go try it. Well SEVEN hours later, they tell me that Im gonna have to wait till the next day to get out on the road (14 hours later) and to enjoy the sleeper in my truck.
No thanks, I call up the guy, ask him where he wants his truck(luckily he said back in the city where Im from) and tell him Im no longer interested.
Ill be honest, I felt kinda like a jack@ss after the whole deal. Sandi was trying to drill it in my head that they were the ones that screwed up and werent organized and not me, but I still felt stupid about the whole situation.
Anyways I got back pretty late and took yesterday to do some of my own business planning and whatnot, to get my company going hard. I wont be able to do much actual work till spring though.
Thanks fellas, I still felt pretty stupid at the end of it all. Felt like maybe I should have asked more questions beforehand or something.
Ah well, its all over and done now.
I guess Im glad it worked out like it did too. If the terrible communication was this bad after the first day, I can only imagine how other days could have been.
Ya know Brent, I never noticed how much I actually do say eh! Im definatly Canadian in that aspect haha.
Tristan, what you been keeping busy at? Did you ever get that one job you were talking about a few days ago, setting up that stuff for those kids parties, or whatever it was?
