I don't have either but the new F6 will allow you to add and or modify your tunes with an email sent from Jody. So you don't have to send the chip back into him if you want to add to it or change somethings.
Bill from PHP used to program "Diesel Power" chips years back (not sure on the exact name of his company). This was back before there were a lot of the tuners that there are today. Lots of people really liked Bill's tuning. I remember being at a dyno day where we ran TS, Bill's Diesel Power, and I think DI back to back to back in the same truck as they were pretty much the most popular options at the time.
Bill decided to go to Edge and work for them.
At some point Bill left Edge, and at some point after that, PHP was formed.
Jody started DP-Tuner after Diesel Power chips was no longer.......AFAIK.
I think PHP and DP are both vendors here so obviously they can give a better history.
This is just what I remember.
I should add, after a quick search, Bill from PHP worked for Superchips back in the 90s prior to starting Diesel Power Chips.
The F5 is about to get a face lift. DP is working on a new version of the F5, called the F5 Freedom. The F5 freedom will allow you to receive tunes and updates via email. Once the F5 Freedom is released, you can have the old F5 updated to the F5 Freedom.
The F6 has the email capability plus you can try tunes before you buy them. The trial tunes that you download are good for 10 key cycles. I know that the F6 has a USB port that you can mount under the dash. That way you don't have to remove the chip to download tunes.
IIRC you send in your F5 and they just add the hardware to it to make it be able to download the tunes from your computer. I plan on doing this since it will be cheaper than a new F6.
I run a Diesel Innovations chip and like it. Lots of good power and my EGTs are in check after them tweaking it a little. They also did some work on my shifts to take away the flaring. I have been curious about a DP and might try one out some time when I have an extra 500 bucks or so. All in all I am happy with the chip that I run.
Also, I agree with Mike. This is just like arguing about Dodge vs Ford vs Chevy. It's all in what you like and if you are happy with what you got for the money spent.
I have heard alot of good things about DI chips but no one that has had both DP or TW tunes they have only went from off the shelf.
I've had both DP and TW. Not a huge difference, but I'm liking my TW tunes A LOT.
Economy -- I've hit almost 20 on TW tunes, almost 19 with the DP.
Power -- I dynoed at 311/681 in April '08, but I haven't dynoed with TW yet. It would be apples to oranges right now since I've had a turbo change. I think my SOTP dyno has the TW a bit ahead, honestly.
I wonder what new F5 will be like a new switch or an entirely new chip set up. What did you go with Huck?
I haven't decided yet. Diane said that if you already have an F5, you can send it back for a hardware update to make it a F5 Freedom. I'm still waiting 'till I can talk to Jody before I make up my mind.

Its the big nipples that give it the SOTP part . I see Tony throws a bit more fuel to her, maybe we can get him to retune it and throw some more fuel down low for you.

How much is the upgrade suppost to run anyways Huck have you heard?
Yeah that was a good selling point as well. I had a TS chip and it made good power but I am very anxious to get it back from Tony and see the big difference it will make. Also the fact that it only cost $150 to reburn a TS chip is a good selling point for anyone with a TS chip.
If you had a TS chip it would be a no brainer to get tony's tunes or if you could find one cheap. Could you get one of the cheap ebay chips to work with tony's tunes?
