And just an FYI because it always comes up... That foil has 0 to do with heat and everything to do with noise.
Oh Joe, how can you say zero to do with heat? I know, if that were the case, it would be on the cold side too. Wonder why that didn't happen? Thermal dynamics, or heat transfer says there is a benefit having the insulated foil no matter how little. Oh well, you say Turbonetics, I say tomato. Wait, aren't they the same thing?

Come on, you know better then that. There are several differant TSB's talking about adding a "updated drivers side IC pipe to control turbo noise". If it were for heat it would be on the cold side, not the hot side, as you said. At WOT the tube heats to 400 degrees or better with a stock turbo, much hotter then the engine bay.
Quick question (don't mean to hijack), but what the retorque on the boot bolts, or are they just tightened down enough to clamp?
Gona get this done this weekend. Too broke to do any upgrades.
What percentage more whistle would you say it gives you? I went the other way & put foil also on the pass side but might be reconsidering.
0% at the lower turbo RPMs, but at the higher RPMs, 100%! It also depends on whether or not you have a Wicked Wheel. There's a substantial increase in whistle with no foil, open style air filter, and WW. Mine went from barely audible to VERY cool...
EDIT: I like the non-painted look myself. Personally, I think the painted pipes are just too much under the hood. They stand out like two giant sore thumbs to me. But to each his own!!
I actually used a propane torch to heat up the inside ofthe tube and that made it real easy to just pull off the foil and gunk in one shot, with minimal cleaning afterward.
