I found this and some may have already seen it from another forum. The link takes you to an article about the Scorpion but it says that it shares the same six speed automatic with the F-150? I don't think so...interesting article though.
Now if they said that they'd improve the mileage 3mpg better than my 6L motor, then you'd really have my attention! Not that 720 ft.lb of torque doesn't get my attention, but the mileage of the 6.4L is pretty bad and so an improvement over that isn't saying a whole lot!
Not sure what the deal is with Ford and their fuel mileage but many International truck/bus buyers report the 6.4 liter V8 with DPF as getting as good or better mileage than the VT365 did.
I was hoping Ford would beat the competition as far as power with this new scorpion, but the new Duramax is rumored to be 750 ft pounds. I think mpg is going to be the most important factor they need to get right.
I agree that fuel mileage will be the most important factor for these new engines as they are all going to have huge HP and TQ numbers.
The 6.7L will be replacing a pretty good motor in the 6.4L; the only real consistent complaint I've seen on the 6.4L is the bad fuel mileage. If they can get it right and have a good running motor, then they might be able to win back over a lot of buyers that they've lost in the last few years.
I haven't seen it in a while, but I do remember one of the first articles I saw on the 6.7L Scorpion was that it would be boosted by two turbos.
