For that money, if it runs and has good shoes on, it would be a good deal. You've been here long enough to know what to look for. I wish you could find you a good later model 7.3, but you got to start some where.
I know I wish I could find one too. But if I ever need to use a nicer truck for dates and such theres always my dad's truck. The only hard part is convincing my dad that this is a good deal and finding the $$$
thats funny right there. But I unfortunatly didn't take the truck I had to take the %^$%#$@ Toyota van.I found a decent candidate for a beater truck. Heres the link 1987 FORD F 250
That looks nice Jacob. Stacks need to be shortened in my opinion also. Looks to be in pretty good shape for a truck from the snowbelt. At least what I can remember of this area being the snowbelt. haha. In Minnesota anyway

I have to agree on the stacks. I just hope i could convince my dad to let me get this truck if I can't use his.

Congrats on passing the test. Except for the stacks, that looks like a pretty good truck. As mentioned, you've been here long enough to have a good idea of what to look for. Just ask your Dad if you're allowed to drive his truck all the time now, or should you find something cheap for a couple of thousand for you to drive.
Parents don't trust kids who just got their license with too expensive of a vehicle, so having your own inexpensive vehicle is a good thing from the parents point of view. That way if you wreck it or screw something up, they're not out a vehicle.
If you do get that truck, just make sure you come by and visit us. Don't spend all you're time down in the OBS section.
Thanks Chris you make a very good point about the cheap vehicle. If I do get that truck I will still be on this forum regularly, gotta have some place to BS and the O/T thread is the best.
Jacob - That truck seems to be a good one, there are lots of early 7.3's out around my area for only a few grand, some are really nice too. I think you'll have plenty to take a look at.
Chris is right, having a beater is a great idea...and eventually you'll see its a good idea too. There is nothing better than having something that is yours, that you can work on and toy around with. Your dad's truck is, and will always be, your dad's truck...and that means certain liberties are off limits.
Also, I remember being 16 and I'll take a guess at how you're feeling. It seems unfair that people don't trust you - at least to a certain extent - when you didn't do anything to deserve the mistrust. Am I right? Well, we've all been 16, and we remember the stupid things WE used to do, so we take it out on the young folk. Driving, while it seems so straight-forward, really does take years to learn properly. In a few years you'll be a much more accomplished driver and you can really look at getting a really nice truck. I bought my truck a few years ago..and I am 26-years-old. Before then I drove some real beaters, and I'm glad I did!
Girls don't care, generally. A truck is a truck. Did I hear you mention something about going on dates?
Barry - Ive jumped more than a few curbs in my day. Climbed a center median with my truck full of girls one time. Their eyes got all big and when we popped over the other side they all yelled "DO IT AGAIN".
Not so sure about the DPTuner ***-slide...I think I'd take out a few cars and maybe a minivan or two. I'm not sure my city cops would like that very much. They already shoot me crusties whenever I drive by. They can tell I am no good but they can never catch me doing anything...lol
Everyone waiting on a CD - its great, if you like rebel, texas style acoustic guitar genuine country. Scott - i LOVE Ten Mile Road.

Congrats on passing your test Jacob. I almost failed mine, but I think the test administrator was having a bad day. She took a bunch of points off because I didn't use my blinkers to parallel park and didn't have my wheels turned the correct way to the curb when parking on a hill. I didn't even know about the hill thing. That almost failed me, but she did pass me.
I was driving around a heavily populated area earlier this evening, Westport area in Kansas City, trying to find my hotel. Streets here suddenly change name without warning and run in every which direction, rather than just north/south & east/west. Anyhow, I was getting frustrated and had to make a few U-turns in the middle of the street. All I can say is a little car with a hand operated e-brake makes quick work of a tight u-turn.

Good point. When I was 16, only a couple months after getting my license, I totaled my first car after sliding through a stop sign on the ice. It was judged as a no fault accident, but I did at least learn something about available traction on ice that day. Good thing it wasn't an expensive car. Point is, there are things that will probably happen as you learn to drive, and better to have them happen to inexpensive vehicles than nice new ones.

I've been known to do this a time or two. One time in particular, I had a truck full of people and one of my buddies who was with me said there was no way I could get my long a$$ diesel truck to pull a 180* power slide/turn. Well, I ended up making the 180* and had so much rotation going we actually did a full 360. That was fun.

To any of ya's interested in wildlife I shot a pic of a moose that was looking like he was gonna come right up my driveway today. The funny thing was my little pup didnt see it while i was taking pics, then she seen it and started barking. The two had a little stand off (with my pup acting pretty darn tough by my side lol) then the moose went on his merry way.
