CPS update from local dealer

I just wanted to pass on some info to evereyone that may help out. Quick history, I took my truck in for a diagnostic and they found a short in my accelerator pedal. When I went in to pick my truck up they informed me there was a recall on the CPS and they put a new one in for me. 2 days later my truck wouldnt start, and Kwikkordead (forum member) had me check the CPS. Sure enough that was it. Back to the dealer for a new one. 1 day later my truck wouldnt start again. Back to the dealer for a new one. This is 3 CPS's in 1 week! Well when I picked my truck up the service desk guy called the mechanic in the office with us. He told me the 1st one was the Ford grey replacement. Here is where it gets interesting. The 2nd one was a Ford black one from the used parts bucket out back!!! And the 3rd one is a Ford grey. Apparently Ford has told the dealerships that due to all the problems with the new ones to try a old black one! I couldnt believe they told me they put a used take off on my truck. Anyway the newest grey one has been on there for 3 days and doing ok so far. Next trip to the dealership and they will be buying me a IH Black. This is getting rediculous.

Dang.

They'll have to recall their recall.

Other members have experienced the same issue with the grey CPS that was installed shortly after the recall.

How much time is it taking you to keep going back to the dealer? You might consider just getting the black IH model and sticking it in there yourself.

Ronnie is right, DP does sell the black IH model cheaper than your local IH dealer will. They got a special buy and stocked up.

The people with the IH sensors (black or blue) swear by them. Since some of the Ford gray ones cause cylinder contribution faults on #8 and sometimes #3, and Ford no longer offers the black one (not counting the fact that the black IH one is cheaper), if you're unhappy with gray, then IH black is the only choice left since the aftermarket ones have proven themselves as failures. I won't even get into the blue debate.

Ditto this for me too. I put my own black Ford one in almost exactly 3 years ago and have had no problem. Have not gone in for the recall, and of course I do not have a spare. So double ditto the knock on wood!!
