ok so i did a flush of my 5r55e last weekend. i got all the dex/merc crap out of there....it has all merc V now. also the fluid looked clear of chunks or metal. so it has gained the 1st gear braking again, and the shifting from 1-2-3 seems better, but the 3-4-od is lame. it over revs and seems to like slide into the next gear. u cant even really feel the shift its that soft. also from 3-4 a few times with hard accelerating it falls out of gear and just revs the motor, and when i let off throttle it engauges the gear....is there an adjustment for that or is it on its last leg? thanks!
Not being able to drive the car it hard to get an idea about how bad the slide or flare is.
When I have this type of condition with this trans one of the first things I do is to clean the mass airflow sensor.
The computer uses this sensor to make adjustments to both the engine and transmission based on engine load.
Other things I see alot of is valve body gaskets blown out, hardened or cracked servo pistons, broken bands, bad epc solenoid.
If you want you can turn the little screw in on the epc solenoid, this will increase the base line pressure, this will make this shifts a little more crisp. Dont go more than 1/4 turn or the downshifts will start to be a little harsh.
