I am trying to find out where my 1976 F150 was fist sold.I checked the vin decoder truck was built in Kansas City.DSO 74 is what i found on the doorplate. If anyone knows I would apreciate the info/educaton(lol)
Thanks ,Paul
Thanks for the info.Would that mean the the truck was possibly first sold in WA or OR ? My parents were second owners the first owner was from Oregon. I am trying to smog this truck and if it was originaly fed (49 state) it makes the smog easier.

It would be from around that general area. The District Order Codes are for the district. The Seattle District did indeed cover Oregon.
So you most likely have 49 state (federal smog)
California units were built in San Jose California, (Code R), and has a district code of either 71 (Los Angeles) or 72 (San Jose)
If it was California Smog it will say so on the Emissions lable located on the radiator support, on the your left hand side, facing the engine. Federal Smog will say Federal.
Unfortunately the label is long gone and there is no sticker on the valve cover either. The first owner swapped the original 360 2bbl for a 390 4bbl. i went to a local pick-n-pull and found a '75 F150 and got the 2bbl egr manifold and egr plate with most of what appears to be the thermo. switches and spark delay valve, but no egr valve. I don't know if they are correct for the '76 but I was told by a few smog mechanics that it should be close enough because I don't live in an"enhanced" smog area. Any more input on this subject would be great. Thanks again,Paul
