Reverse(probl)..I have a granade !!
Look I gonna be open with you guys , it's 12:00 pm right now , gonna go reading thru all the treads I can ..and start working on this tomorrow at dawn ,I'm this close to throw a grenade at my tranny! ,this what happen : coming out of a parking lot , try to put the gear into reverse, a little faster than usual, mind you ! ..when all of the sudden nothing happened ! ..only the usual VROOOMM ! VROOMM! ..
..so ..the only thing did notice was a slipperin/something is grindin, very ,very softly kinda noise among the rest of the noises in the truck(have a very good ear )(kinda of ironic since I was reading about the shifting problems on ford trucks on fte, which I had on mine)..so..to make a long story short .. manage to drove home(all other gears , worked fine ) ..took a long hard look below the truck..and nothing is wrong ! ..fordboy talks about a solution for transmission valves but only 4r55e and 5r55e..mine is 4r44e !!!!..does it apply to my number ???
,I'm asking since if I'm gonna try to attack/fix this REVERSE problem, right away , mind as well do the fordboy fix as well ..I'm soooo mad at MR .ford right now! , thinking of mixing some gas with orange juice to make homebrew napalm !.. (or was it sulphuric acid??..lol !)to burn the %&*** out ! ..anyways I need to shoot something ..so I'm gonna play halo 3 with the kids (uumm! they taught me ! Honest, not that I'm a fan or anything !..)..anyways any coments are welcome ! thanks in advance !
DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING
Engagement Concerns: No Reverse Only
202 — ELECTRICAL ROUTINE
No Electrical Concerns
302 — HYDRAULIC/MECHANICAL ROUTINE
Reference / Action
A. Fluid:
1. Incorrect Level / Adjust to correct level.
B. Shift Linkages (Internal/External):
1. Transmission Shift Cable and Bracket — damaged or misadjusted.
2. Digital TR Sensor — out of adjustment
/ Inspect for damage. Readjust as required. Repair all damaged components. After repairing linkages, readjust the digital TR sensor.
C. Incorrect Pressures:
1. Incorrect Band/Clutch Application Pressures.
2. Line Pressure — low
/Check line pressure at tap. Carry out Line Pressure and Stall Speed Tests. Refer to the Line Pressure Chart for specifications. If pressure is low, check the following possible components: reverse clutch.
D. Filter and Seal Assembly:
1. Filter — damaged, plugged. Seal — damaged, cut or missing / Inspect for damage and install a new filter.
E. Main Control Assembly:
1. Screw out of torque specification / Tighten to specification.
2. Gasket — damaged, off location / Inspect and install a new gasket.
3. Separator Plate — damaged / Inspect for damage. Repair as required.
4. 1-2 Shift Valve, 2-3 Shift Valve, Reverse Modulator Valve, Spring — damaged, missing, misassembled, stuck, bore damaged
/ Inspect for damage. If damaged, install a new main control. If parts are missing, install new parts or main control. If misassembled, reassemble correctly. Do not stone, file or sand valves. This will result in further main control or transmission damage.
F. Pump Assembly:
1. Screws out of torque specification / Tighten screws to specifications.
2. Pump — damaged, leaking / Inspect for damage. Repair as required.
G. Direct-Reverse Clutch/Reverse Band:
1. Reverse Clutch Assembly — burnt, worn, leaking.
2. Check Ball in Clutch —
3. Piston/Piston Seal Rings — leaking. Cover Gasket — damaged
/ Carry out air pressure test. Inspect for damage. Repair as required.
4. Direct/Reverse Servo Piston Seal — cut, leaking. / Check and install a new piston seal. Check and install a new low-reverse band.
..being a newbie at this , the outscope was too much for my limited tools and time , got desperate!..anyways here's the story : took the shop about a week to fix the problem, (they had like 2 or more trucks ahead of mine )then when I got there , the guy was testing the truck, rode in , got off, and told me , that there that they had fixed the reverse problem
,did solve the reverse problem he said... but ..now it have a PCM problem !!!.. still no reverse !!!!
..seems ..the guy told me that the PCM was still recognizing the reverse fault , 'very common problem the guy told me' and that they needed to repro ' the PCM (sucking all the info from the PCM ,clearing the faulty code , then reinserting the info again, and problem fix, which got me nervous! to say the least!) ..anyways to make a long story short..they did change the broken band ,and supposedly did a medium overhaul, that is o-rings, gaskets, the discs 'pads' were a little worn (ok ,not to replace) etc.. etc..seems that if you take out the transmission (blue cover) ´connector ´to the left of the DTR sensor , (I only see two connectors on that side ), the reverse works fine !, but the motor goes rough , can take only till 3rd gear , he told me ,also the OD light flashes on and off ,(they cleaned the PCM connector and all tranny connectors to no avail ) if you plug 'that' connector again , I am back at square one , all gears ,all fine , no reverse.took it home , ..yep ..,hard to drive, have to help changing the gears manually to help the transmission shift ,when it doesn't want to, ..
1.-is there a way of reseting the 'computer' (diy) assuming is true?
2.-could it be the DTR sensor misaligntment? or any other electrical things for that matter?
pleeease ! heelp ! any comments are deeply appreciated guys,!

I find it hard to believe that the PCM remembers a broken band. More likely, they messed a sensor up, or did not put it back together correctly.
Thinking of those pieces that you step in that fall out of bulls....

seems I need to examine the tranny again , which I 'm doing right now , on the lines of eliminating step by step ,probable causes ,symptoms, and even sensors, ..even theories

NO!!! You need to take it back to the shop that took your money and tell them that it still is broken. Why are you doing anything trying to diagnose a problem that the shop put into your transmission? THEY did the job. THEY took the money. THEY robbed you. If you are OK with that, then fine.

although angry as I am , have to play by this country rules which is ´no rules at all´ if you know what I mean , I will explain this further in another post , btw thanks for your
reply and motivation I know is all in good faith , god bless !
, ..posting this in case someone has any toughts , now have CEL light on all the time ? could it be a electrical problem ? cause how come it worked for as far as 6 to 7 times normally ?
