Wiper shaft trim
I just painted my wiper arms, and noticed how faded the shaft trim piece is. It looks like a big plastic nut around the shaft that the wiper arm attaches to. Does anybody know how to remove it? I'd like to paint it as well. As always, thanks for any help!

I believe you are correct as to the part being a big plastic nut. They started using the plastic nuts back in the early 90's and I don't think they changed much since. You can loosen it like any other nut needing a deep six point socket. I think my 91 takes inch and a quarter. They may have changed the size on yours though. The factory puts them on pretty snug but just apply steady pressure to it and it should come loose. When you put it back together you can make it pretty snug as well but since it's plastic, the new paint may want to chip off easily if you go too tight. Let us know how it goes.
