I call everything in the doors soft trim like cat whiskers, weather stripping, seals, etc.

Are you going with one piece glass or original?

On my 56 it`s mostly a stock restoration. I`ve moved the gas tank from in the cab to under the frame at the back using a Mustang tank and the paint will be a newer Ford blue colour. I may put mags on it and make afew other small changes that are easy to undo.

It`s -12.0°C, feels like -20°C so it does feel like winter. Tomorrow will be 6°C but fair bit windy.

That wind is making it seem cool today.

All this old truck talk is making me wanna work on my 51! I bought a 86 jag to use the front and rear independant supension. on it. Got a 302 in one of my trucks lined up to do some engine work on, mild build, all i gotta do is find a decent 5 speed for it, s10 tailshaft, and find a ****load of time, and my truck will be complete!

Heya Gigger.

It will be a pretty cool build, not unique by any means, but will make a pretty cool comfortable driver. Not too fast, not too slow, enough power but not too much power that the fuel mileage goes to hell.

Sheldon, I just read it again, that sounds like a great project, G

Are you gonna keep the inboard disk brake set up on the rear???

Morning fellas. Nice day out temperature wise, but sure is windy, thought I was gonna end up in Kansas this morning!

Gig, I was actually reading up on the IRS jap swap on the hamb last night, and I think Im leaning towards taking the whole rear diff, and leaving it in the cage its factory mounted in, then mounting the whole cage to the 51 frame. So I believe that would include the brakes and everything.

Sure looks alot nicer not mounted in the cage, but keeping the cage that the suspension is mounted in, would keep the factory jag type ride, which is what Im aiming for.

Good Tuesday Morning FTE, M/S..........howdy Sheldon & Morris

Sheldon, I agree plus the rear wheels look great without the rotors & calipers there, less unsprung weight, G

The XKE had inboard brakes. [horrible to work on.] XJ models have outboard brakes.
There may be variations but that's what I remember.

Any brake work could be done while the diff is out prior to installation, IDK what model Sheldon has....
