I remember changing the gear ratio in an XJ, the gears are the same as some American diff but I think the ring gear bolts were different. I think I had to re-drill the carrier for the US bolts.
Im my own machine shop The jag I have is an 86 xj6 I believe. I dont really know much about em. The previous owner did a bunch of work to the front, and rear, supposedly. So Everything SHOULD be in good shape!
Dont think im gonna change the ratio in the rear end quite yet either. Im not looking for something thats overly fast, or overly hot off of the line. Thinking I will just take what I get with the ratios in the rear end, unless they are really steep!
Sheldon, I think you know how to check the gear ratio without even taking it appart eh, just count the # of turns between the pinion compared to the axle eh...
Good afternoon folks!
My model T has Jag rear suspension with in board brakes, while I don`t see any problem working on them by removing the axles. Other than replacing a side diff seal I`ve never had to mess with it yet.
I haven`t done a thing to the T other than replacing an axle seal, a starter and a battery, it`s just like the day I bought it. Outside of needing a proper motor it drives, brakes and steers fine.......
