Always good to build up brownie points......and hope they remember them when you accidentally do slip up occasionally on those ''special'' days.........
Heya guys It is a damn nice day out today! Sherm I got a question for ya, whats the best way to insulate to where the floor joists meet the basement header on a house? Im just trying to get things ready for an energy inspection, and thought id ask a few people that may know better then I.
Ive heard you dont want to use pink insulation where the concrete meets the wood, due to condensation possibly becoming a problem...
hey prep, most peeps use 2" styrofoam rigid insulation, cut to fit snug then caulk with acoustical sealant. another way is to get a canister of the spray urethane insulation and fill the cavaties with it.
Thanks man, thats what I was thinking too. I also thought about getting someone to come in and spray it. The spray stuff is supposed to be the best, but its also about 3 times as much cash, and the DIY kits arent cheap either.
yeah, the spray isn't cheap... just go with the 2" rigid, if you're concerned about it not being warm enough, you can easily double it up or whatever...
Yeah I might end up doing that yet. Either way I gotta figure out something before the winter. I was gonna spray foam around the base of the house to make it air tight, then that rigid stuff.
Im gonna call a few guys and see what they charge for the spray foam yet. Sandi would like to go that route.
