How's your garage coming along?

After last winter I agree John, it was far too cold for far too long.
Blocks start 4 ft below grade then one course around the whole garage floor, then 2x6 walls will provide almost 10 ft of ceiling height.......
I'm at the camper & I dont have pics here
10 ft is a pretty good height, that is what I have on my attached garage, out in my shop I went with a 12 ft height. I wish I had went wider with the shop and put in 2 doors rather than 1 door 12 ft wide so I could have put in a hoist but will have to live with what I have unless I move and have to rebuild. Do you camp far from North Bay?
Morning Folks. Hope everyone's having a swell weekend so far. We sure are here. Cruise night was chilly but a decent night overall. Got a few pics that I'll try to get up...my favorite rides of course, didn't take time to pictorial the entire thing. Went to the monster truck show last night. It was awesome. The last freestyle run the boys really went all out and put on a great show. Best one I've seen. Off to the drags today, can't wait.
In other news, yes Gerry, that is the same generation and model of my Cobra, but mine is a red convertible. Morris, I'm on the fence about selling the Cobra. It pains me to have only put 2-300 kms on it so far this season, but its such a sweet ride it pains me to sell it. I've got it advertised on kijiji for enough to cover the pain of losing it...
In other news, we'll be bringing home a new pooch this evening. My wifes friend works at the vet clinic that we use, they had a lady come in looking to rehome her 2yr old Rottweiler due to a divorce. Her husband wants their house but wants nothing to do with the dog. The lady in moving into a rental property that doesn't allow pets. We met the pooch already, a petite female, she is a beauty and very affectionate. We're pretty excited...we have room both in our hearts and property for 3...
We fought city hall all week & won....... the footings are in..... blocks tomorrow
Is this for the lot you have just outside the city or something that they wanted you to build a residence first?

Is there piles below your footing? I assume you are using ICF blocks, that's a great idea.

I've noticed that no matter how big you make a shop it always ends up being too small.
Sherm I ended up enlarging my garage at home in the city so all my toys will be in one place..... my garage will be attached to the house by a breeze way
no piles needed, we dug down about 5 ft to 'native soil'....... we're using 8'' concrete blocks & rigid insulation below grade
You should look into using ICF blocks. They save a lot of work for small(er) jobs. insulation is already there...plus then you have a solid 8" concrete wall... Perhaps a little pricier than using the 8" concrete blocks. What are they worth nowadays? I haven't seen anyone using them in quite some time!!
