The last couple days here in northwestern Ontario has been clear and sunny after days of rain. There is an abundent amount of water in all our lakes and rivers. They had to make a detour a couple times on the highway leading to us and there has been many road washouts in the region.

Its a mess in this area. The usual 2hr drive to Regina from Yorkton now takes 5-6hrs depending on what route you have to take due to washouts and road closures. I fear it is only the beginning of a painful summer of poor weather. We'll have my roof shingled today so at least the water will stay out from the top. The basement is just going to get gutted and left that way for quite some time. There is no point in re-finishing it with weather the way it has been. There are a lot of people around that haven't ever had a water issue in 30+ years that have it coming through cracks in the floor. That's mainly where ours is coming from also.

There are two houses on the side of the highway in the town of Dunleath that will probably end up as total losses. The water had crept up over the front door on one, and nearly the front door on the other. I feel terribly sorry for these people.

Yep the mosquitos are a pain in the ***/entire body this year. I'm sure I'll be cursed by some, but bring back winter... No flooding, no ticks, no mosquitos... Prefer if its not as cold a winter as last one was but whatever...

Finally a few days with lots of summer heat and the AC quit in my Bobcat, I`m taking the rest of the day off since it`s like being a green house.

There were tons of roads, highways were closed and bridges washed out.

It is a very sad situation in a lot of places. Prairie farmers, communities tackle flooding | Globalnews.ca

Once the breeze dies down it`s time to head indoors.

Evening everyone. Weather was good today but it just started to rain as I was on my way home . Thursday I got transferred to a different Manitoba Hydro station (same job, new location), still in Gillam though but now now instead of being 20 minutes outside of town I'm 40 minutes outside of town. The two upsides to my new location is being that it is one of the newer stations, it is not nearly as hot inside as my old station is. My old station was about 40+C in the summer and the new one seems to be around 30C inside. Second bonus is they have a 12,000 pound vehicle lift there for station employees to use . Last night was my old managers retirement party, along with all the management of my new station was the management of my old station, some old coworkers, and the new head of all three of the Generating stations in Gillam (my manager's boss). He was quite nice and wasn't super prim and proper like I expected someone of his stature to be, we didn't have to sensor ourselves much around him. Also today my puppy decided to chew on my new steering stabilizer dust boot, I thought it would be safe being in a box but he chewed through the box and started chewing on the boot. He is lucky my girlfriend came home first and found it and told me "I'm not allowed to punish him because he doesn't remember what he did".... Stupid dog.... I love him, I love him, I love him... lol

I once would have agreed with you, so the thought itself is not foreign to me! But of late I find myself enjoying summer more, in spite of the bugs...

I don't mind winter either guys as long as it don't last more the a week, I'd be happy if it were just cool enough to keep the bugs away.

Evening everyone! Got some good news, my girlfriend and I have been pre-approved for that 2011 Ford Explorer that my girlfriend really wanted!! The guy at the dealership said the only reason we got approved is because I have excellent credit. Still waited on revenue Canada to send me the $6,000 they owe me and my snowmobile will be almost paid for. Should be paid for by the end of this year . First item on the list after my snowmobile is paid off is to buy a lift kit for my truck .
