Hypermilers thread
genscripter is only slightly familiar with running WVO.
I suggested running <= 25% WVO which requires NO CONVERSION.
The only cost would be the filtering equipment, which could be as cheap as old jeans and buckets. And your time. But I could process up to 15 gallons per week in a half hour cumulative.
My filtering setup consists of several food grade felt bags. About $100 worth, and buckets.
I'm not going to get into another WVO battle with dilettantes.
I put almost 250K WVO miles on my TDI, and over 45k WVO on the F-250.
Neither suffered WVO damage more than algae plugged filters or shrunken seals. I did put a new ip head seal on the TDI after the 1st week on WVO.
The F-250 has had air intrusion problems, but its also mostly stock 25 yo rubber. No Viton anywhere. Going to do the 'olives' this weekend.
The F-250's original ip died at 200K miles. Still have 7 of 8 original injectors at 225K.
This was only posted because chasing mpg exclusively is myopic.
You can also reduce the cost of the fuel.
