So far, so good. Looking back, i dicked away alot of time and money worrying about these damn rods. I love my truck now. Feels about half the weight it has to move around the engine is so much peppier now. I havent logged ICP but it pulls so hard on the top end im willing to bet that the ICP is over 2500.

again, this is the opposite of where I went, hybrid (bigger injector) with smaller extrude honed nozzle for better atomization. Not interested in dumping a bunch down low and grenading (sp) the block.

Dude, I am truly happy for you. I hated seeing your truck going the other way. I still don't get it.

Your probably easily past that level I would guess. I'm at 3,200 psi and I think Mike is over 2,800.

Ok this is scaring me. The way they talk on beans is that these are safe injectors with fuel, turbo, and tuning mods. Grenading the block??? Is this a good possibility?

Yes, very good possiblity. That's why most of us have an engine swap in our future. With the mindset of "damn, i hope this doesn't blow up", the truck knows it, and blows at the worst possible time. For those of us who dont really worry about it, the engine doesnt think you're scared, and it stays together..

Nah, you should be fine with proper tuning. The way this injector stuff works is like a car trade-in. They play with one end and enhance another. Smaller barrel and plunger can be enhanced with bigger nozzle size. Bigger barrel and plunger, reduce the nozzle etc. The key is to get the engine revving before dumping the fuel and doing it with conservative timing from what I am beginning to see.

I believe this is what is causing engine failures but nobody knows for sure. My fear with the Beans 160s that are capable of 400hp is that they will dump too much too fast down low in the RPM band. I prefer to make my HP higher in the band. So I guess I am cruising around making about 300HP down low and lag my way up to high 300s. All this is with about 700 lbs/ft going close to 800.

***Pick me, pick me!!***

FWIW, I did make ~360 on stock injectors, but that was with about every supporting mod possible...big oil, upgraded turbo, fuel system, intercooler, BTS trans to get the power down, & the obvious intake and exhaust.

Yay you figured it out, now tell me the secret. That does sound like a lot of parts and I know it adds up quick. How much have you spent so far?

No secrets. I've documented every mod I've done right here of FTE. How much...too much for a measly 360 HP, however I did all those mods with the idea of supporting larger injectors down the road. Somewhere north of $5K though, and that was before it blew up. Add in the injectors and now the cost of Destroking it....

If all you want is good HP right now, on a budget, without any plans to go bigger later on down the road, hybrids are the way to go. Big oil was the largest part of my expense, which the hybrids kind of eliminate the need for.

However, I still to this day think that a truck, any truck, all trucks, no matter the injector will benefit from big oil. Period, end of story. You may be able to hold ICP just fine to not trigger the CEL, but I still think that the BO makes it more responsive, broader power band, and you will have the ablility to run more ICP than a single pump. I'd bet that if any of the guys who have just put some hybrids in their trucks also added big oil, they'd see an improvement in the way the truck drives, but probably not much in the way of peak power.
