I had the same problem. I just left it since it didn't need to be replaced. You may be able to get a bar in there to bend the firewall a little to clear. That or loosen the body mount bolts and shove the cab as far back as you can (big job!!).
What and where are the up pipes? I think I have an exhaust leak somwhere down around the passenger exhaust manifold. Could that be an up pipe leak? And If so, is it easy to fix?

That is a good picture RÖENTGEEP! Thank! So Im guessing mine is leaking where it hooks up to the manifold. Is there a gasket or something special that can wear out there?
I got mine out. Pulled it up. It was not easy I just got pissed and started pulling and twisting and it came out without to much cussing. Keep trying before you go to any extremes.

What the heck ya guys talking about ???
I've been watching this thread all day and now don't have a clue what you're trying to do. Exhaust manifold to turbo .. is it that hard?
Yea,Its a tight fit. I think the one thing that made it a pita was the clamp that bolts it to the manifold you have to try to turn it to the right spot then pull the pipe up from the back of the motor. Not a easy thing to do by your self. Look at the pic and you will see the tight bend you have to get around.
Well after much fighting and lack of band aids I bolted the same one back in. It was the passenger side that had the leak, I just thought I would do them both at the same time. I did put a new gasket on at the collector. It's not so loud in the cab now. Thanks for the tips

The drivers side up pipe. Its a tight fit between the engine and the cab much like the down pipe on the other side. The pipe actually is made with a flat spot in it to clear when installed. Removing the pipe is no easy task it you don't push, pull and hold your tongue at a 37.893462* angle while standing on your head.....OK I have no idea cause I just gave up and left it in.
Reek, the up pipe connects to the exhaust manifold on the head with 2 bolts and a flange. There is no gasket at the manifold. The up pipe is flaired to meet the manifolds taper. Behind the flair on the up pipe is a floating collar that the bolts go through to tighten it to the manifold. Hope that helps.
