Okay, so I got my instructions scanned in. Let's see if I have any issues linking to my WebShots account.

These are the in-tranny mods for the 4th clutch & coast clutch that I also didn't do, since I obviously didn't pull the tranny:

Okay, since I had the 2nd type main VB, so I had to drill & debur it. I then did the mods to the pistons on page 1 & 2. For step 2 on page 2, I had no hole to plug, and I had two holes in that plate, so I had to use a check ball.

On page 3, I did all those mods, and had to drill the accumulator VB because I had no slot there. Since I couldn't get my solenoid pack down, I didn't check it. I'm thinking that because I have a newer tranny than Mike's, mine should be like his was (hole at EX). But who knows?? I plan on checking it when I have to drain it next time. Also, since I couldn't get that pack off, I didn't do anything on page 4.

On Page 5, I drilled the plate with the closest SAE bit I had that was between the ranges for the V10/diesel and erred on the side of it being towards the larger side of the range.

Obviously, page 6 requires the tranny be out, so I did none of that either.

Hope this helps -- and I haven't clouded the waters between the kit Mike bought, and the one I put in. It looks like the only difference in the two kits are the internal stuff that neither of us did anyway. Looks like you could save about $25 and just get the one he did and be good to go (unless you were already planning on tearing into the tranny anyway).

Quick question for you... I was trying to do this today on your instructions (same as mine) mine is a 2nd type. On page 3 what size drill bit did you use on the casting? Plus on page 4 would you do this or will al the stuff fall out, would you be able to get it all back in? Or should this step on page 4 be worried about. Sorry not trying to steal the thread...... Plus thanks for helping out....

So I went back and re-read the directions that came with Mike's kit -- it *is* different in that there are the same Main VB mods. I changed a bunch of stuff in all the pistons in the main VB and drilled it per the instructions. Also notice the accumulator plate is drilled slightly differently.

Looking at this now, I guess the Tugger was worth it. Both kits have stuff that's done if the tranny is taken apart, but the Tugger version has more extensive mods done in the main VB. I don't know what difference that makes though. Maybe Mark can answer that.

I used the bit that came with the kit (.110, IIRC). Notice is says "it's not fussy" lol... Then I used some very fine sand paper (wet sanding type) to debur the bore.

Since I didn't mess with the step that drops the whole bottom off, I don't know how much of a pain it will be regarding the check *****, etc. There is that poppet valve change, possible hole enlargements/plug, and some changes to the check ***** depending on the configuration you have. I suppose it would be good to do it all since you're there, but it may take two sets of hands to get it all back up there.

Thanks to everyone for the reps on this thread. It was a looong day at work today.

Well, I have discovered that the pics are still there from my laptop. For some goofy reason I cannot see any of the photobucket pics I posted on this computer. They won't come up here or in Photobucket. Any ideas? I think I am going to have a beer and go to bed.

It wasn't the .110 bit -- it says right on there the size range for the holes. I guess I used the smaller one (.81)....

Thanks
TransGo included two bits in the kit -- I used the smaller of the two, which is the .81" bit. I also used that one to drill the plate for the "3rd" hole. I used the .110" bit for the "2nd" hole and hogged it out a bit to get it a little on the bigger side. Then I used a 3/32 bit (~.093") for the "3rd" hole. Hope that covers it all!!

Great posting both of you, Thank you Sirs! It is really tempting now instead of getting a BTS VB, just DIY and save 150-200 dollars.
