overhead computer died

anyone know where I can get a replacement computer for my overhead console? Does any other vehicle computer fit? Is the computer model specific? Everything I look up online has different buttons than mine. 2000x with 7.3

Did the display go out? If so, there is a fix. it is just some loose diodes/chips. I'll try and search for a link.

found it.

yes the display went dim then out completely. I'll try these ideas and see if I can fix it before I spend $175 on a new one!!

It took two tries to get everything soldered but this fixed it perfectly!

Thank you so much, saved me a fortune and I was having withdrawals not knowing what the outside temp was.

Mine periodically goes out. It just takes a good smack to get it going again.

probably has loose chips like mine did, follow the link in the post above and re-solder the chips. Mine is brighter than it has been in 2 years..

I just did the fix to my overhead console computer last night...Radios Shack 15w soldering iron and some .015 silver solder..$15...soldered one 680 chip that was loose on one end and bang...works like a champ...thanks for all the help from this board.
