Help with trany ideas, Please!

I have a 2001 F250 7.3 trany rebuilt with 23,000 miles by dealership. New torque converter at 64,000 by dealership at my cost, $3,000. Now trany is leaking again. I was told it may need a new torque converter again. I read in here where my truck has a Mechanical diode that is probably causing the problem. What do I need to do to keep this diode from causing more problems and what do you recommend to replace my torque converter with. Should I put in a tugger? I want it fixed and do not want any more problems. What all do I need to do?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

When the trans was rebuilt they should have replaced the mechanical diode with a sprag type one way clutch.

Even if they didn't, the mechanical diode doesn't cause leaks. What exactly is your truck doing?

After driving more than 40 miles on a hot day 70+ it leaks trany fluid out from the inspection plate. Stopps after the truck cools down.

If it's coming from the inspection plate, is there a gasket involved?

Thought that it may be a front seal on the transmition. Mech. said it may need a new t/c and pump kit. also cut old filter in half and found metal.

input shaft seal ? is the tranny acting up other than that?

no, working fine other than leaking when it heats up. I think that it heating up to fast. May be more than just a seal.

There is an updated front seal for the transmission because of the weeping problem. Repeated failures exisited on the old style seal. I believe the new one is brown and the old one is gray but don't quote me. Need to make sure the updated seal is in place. Unless the converter is cracked, it shouldn't leak.
