P0500 error code and strange things

This morning I started up the 2001 F250 SD PSD and then noticed that my OD light started blinking. I turn the engine off and restarted and then it came back.

A side note: I had my trany system flushed a few weeks ago before my camping trip and while on a trip my trany started slipping. I had to get out and add a quart and a 1/2 of trany fluid. I wasn't very happy.

Well, back to today. As I was watching my OD light flash, I then noticed my speed-o-meter going crazy. It started flipping around by 20 or so MPH. The truck ran good and OD would work (yet it still blinked). Got to work and checked the for error codes; (DTC# 01-P0500) Vehicle Speed Sen (VSS) Error. Anyone seen this and what causes it?

Side note #2: I do have a little windshield leak above the steering column, so could it be water related? We had a lot of rain the last two days.<O:p

I going back by Express Oil Change and have them find out where are the trany fluid is going. I have not notice any big leaks but I still need to figure out the flashing OD and MPH errors. Are they related?<O:p

The OD and MPH errors are just what the error code says, the Vehicle Speed Sensor. It's mounted on the top of the rear differential and it pretty simple to change.
